UPDATE 2: Police have arrested Mario Ashkar, 36, in connection with this incident. He is charged with Ethnic Intimidation, Criminal Mischief, Theft by Unlawful Taking, and Disorderly Conduct.
UPDATE: Pittsburgh Police would like to thank members of the public for sending in tips on this case. As a result, one of the individuals has been positively identified. The investigation is ongoing.
More updates will be provided when information becomes available.

Pittsburgh Police were on hand to cheer on athletes competing in the Special Olympics Unified Track and Field City Championships at Oliver track.

The annual Law Enforcement Officers Memorial of Allegheny County ceremony was held on Saturday.
The names of fallen local officers, Brackenridge Police Chief Justin McIntire and McKeesport Police Officer Sean Sluganski were added to the memorial.

Pittsburgh Police arrested a 17-year-old male in Market Square on May 1, 2024. Officers recovered a pistol with an obliterated serial number from his backpack. He was turned over to juvenile probation for placement.

UPDATE: Police arrested four people during this traffic stop.
Three juveniles are charged w/Possession of a Firearm by a Minor and Receiving Stolen Property.
Mehki Reed, 19, of Pittsburgh was charged with Person Not to Possess a Firearm.
The ATF continues its investigation.
Violence Prevention Unit detectives conducted a traffic stop at W. Warrington Ave. and Saw Mill Run Blvd. following a bolo for suspects believed to be involved in the theft of 21 firearms in Mercer County. The ATF is investigating.

UPDATE: Pittsburgh Police collected 23 boxes of unused medications for a total weight of 448 pounds!
Thank you to everyone who participated in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day for helping to keep prescription medications from falling into the wrong hands.
Reminder! National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is this Saturday, April 27.
From 10am-2pm, dispose of old and unneeded medications safely at a collection site near you. Drop-off boxes will be located at Police headquarters and the six police zone stations.
