Another week, another fighter in a high profile position publicly expressing concern about the lack of money they’re making.
Credit to Cannonier for the honestly. UFC have got to realise this is a bad look and it’s happening quite a bit.
Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 cuts, my time with
@MMAFighting
ends at the end of May. It was a pleasure to work with an amazing team. I branched out into new things, travelled to wonderful places and helped make the site the place to go for European MMA content.
Charlie Ward just came backstage after refusing to do media earlier, cut an amazing promo and called out 50 Cent. I asked him why he doesn't usually do interviews and he replied: "Because I'm a fucking gangster"

Some personal news:
Delighted to announce that I’ve joined the
@ringer
team, where I’ll be co-hosting the MMA pods alongside mo chara,
@arielhelwani
. Before/after every big card, reacting to breaking news ...
Absolutely thrilled. Can’t wait to get started very soon. 👃x 🇮🇪
Devastated to report that Brendan Schaub is, in fact, NOT a fan of mine. Really happy I got some free comedy advice from one of the greats, though. Thank you, Brendan.
One of the nicest guys in the sport.
Erect a statue, name a bridge after her, name an airport after her, do something.
When we needed it most, Katie put a smile back on Ireland’s face.
What an icon.
Ariel helped me more than I can tell any of you. When I lost my job, he talked to me every single day until I got back on my feet…and guess what? He was the driving force that got me back on my feet. Anyone who says he is not a team player is a bullshit artist. I love this man.
Getting so many messages about UFC London tickets today. Prices were scandalous from the get go, but what’s worse is people buying the tickets up just to sell them at a higher rate again. The worst thing about MMA going mainstream is that MMA fans are priced out of UFC events.
Let’s put real role models in the spotlight.
Edwards and Aspinall combining for a headline show will make MMA bigger in the U.K. than it’s ever been before.
Still haven’t quite got over how good Pereira looked in his debut. To be able to that to someone like Danny Roberts is no joke. Madness as soon as the bell rings
McGregor told us he would show the world a true martial artist, this is definitely not it. Lack of respect for the defeated John Redmond, a guy he came up with on the regional scene, is poor and that was just the cherry on top.
I didn't see the fight this way. Strong start from McGregor for sure, but even without the ankle break, I thought Poirier was in control and comfortably won the first round. Am I going mad?
This is well done. Love that it highlights the controversies of McGregor as well as his glory days. It’s a never a predictable week in Sin City when the Irishman is in town.
Last May, I lost my job due to COVID cuts. A year later, I’m back on the road to record a

gang and

. I’m so excited and grateful to be back at it. Please join us for the show tomorrow it’s going to be great!
Ngannou vs. Jones is the biggest fight in MMA. Jones should be paid like he’s the greatest. It’s an investment in a way, because if Ngannou wins he inherits all of that greatness. We already saw Adesanya vs. Jones removed from play. It’s time to make Ngannou vs. Jones.
Ian Machado Garry is so confident of stopping Daniel Rodriguez that he’s even calling the shot - a right head kick.
“If it’s anything else, I didn’t mean it,” says the undefeated Irish welterweight.
Paul Craig revealed that the UFC have further U.K. dates booked already. He believes a big night of wins for the U.K. fighters could take the fan base into a new stratosphere in the region. I’d tend to agree.

Very sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but James Gallagher’s grandfather has passed away. No doubt he passed knowing that his grandson had accomplished everything he set out to. My deepest condolences to the Gallagher family. The nicest people you could meet.
McGregor took a great first step to winning back the Irish last night. Could feel the tide change a lot on fight night. I think it’s really important that he keeps talking to the Irish media, as he did with RTE last night. Good stuff here
Isn’t in incredible than Masvidal seems to have setup fights for every possible outcome?
Big buzz for the Burns fight even though he’s a big underdog. If he wins, fans will go crazy for a Leon fight, if he loses everyone will call for the Holland fight.
The man’s a genius.
The ocean's greatness is about absorbing every drops of water so as the Mountain's magnificence is about accepting every dust and rocks. Those energy is what makes us strong.
If McGregor wins tonight, I think UFC have got to make hay while the sunshines. Look at Jorge Masvidal’s numbers this week - he’s got all the juice. A winning McGregor versus Masvidal is the biggest fight the organisation can match at his point. It would be outrageous.
The most well rounded fighter the U.K. has ever produced fights this weekend.
Give some love to Leon Edwards, a man who has never compromised his character in order to get what he wanted, even when the whole game seemed like it was doing the opposite.
4 years ago today, Conor McGregor weighed in successfully for his Las Vegas debut against Dustin Poirier. The American had a big reaction to the Irishman’s vocal reception on U.S. soil. Among McGregor’s supporters were Rose Namajunas and Pat Barry, who I snapped a quick pic of.

@StrabanimalMMA
has been walking around the cage on a few occasions tonight. Has previously told us he likes to do this to get a feel of the Arena before he competes

Thanks to everyone who listened to Eurobash, The A Side and read my stuff. Thanks to my colleagues at MMAFighting for the opportunity. As for what’s next, stay tuned. I will keep you all posted. You’re not done with me yet!
Incredible suit on the newly-crowned champ, Corey Anderson. If you look closely, on the chain around his neck, he’s wearing a picture of his nephew who was murdered. He got the same suit his nephew wore to his prom made for tonight, as a tribute to him.
Class.

Immediately after the fight, I was worried that Canelo might have some difficulty finding fresh, interesting matchups beyond Plant. Thankfully, I’ve been seeing a lot of tough cookies on here that would’ve easily fought on with the injury Billy Joe Saunders suffered 😂
Diaz fights are different. From the weight change, to how he looks shadow boxing, his interviews - everything Diaz is doing is being meticulously broken down with people drawing conclusions about if it’s a good or bad thing…all it proves is that Nick Diaz is a true MMA icon.
Maybe Leon wasn’t messing about that, “when you become champ you improve by 30%,” stuff.
Loughnane looked incredible tonight. A heavy favourite, but impressive nonetheless.
From “underpaid, under-appreciated, under all-kinds-of-shit” to an icon of the industry.
We discussed Nate Diaz sticking it to the man and his future beyond UFC in the aftermath of UFC 279.
We had a record breaking broadcast to coincide with one of the most insane weigh-ins ever.
Despite deadlines, doctor’s appointments and domestic flights, we kept this baby going for over 6 hours in front of an audience that reached 40,000.
Enjoy!
It was our generation’s Italia ‘90. It definitely felt that way at the time. The Irish travelled far and wide. Biggest traveling support McGregor ever commanded IMO.
On this day in 2015...
@TheNotoriousMMA
blew the roof off the MGM Grand as he stopped Chad Mendes in the second round to get his hands on UFC gold for the first time 🙌
An iconic moment 🙌
THICCCBOY are using quotes from my interview with no credit. I can only ask - are these the best brains for the art?
(Also misspelled Aspinall)
Here it is if anyone’s interested:
According to the Irish Times, we’re gonna see if McGregor can regain his place in the public’s affection when he takes on Michael Cerrone on Jan. 16 (a Thursday?).
Great to see MMA get the mainstream rub in Ireland again.
I don’t think people realised how much they loved Bisping until that punch landed. It’s one of those nights that people never forget and never stop talking about - one of the greatest moments in European MMA history. What a career, what a legend.
Who would like to see Adesanya attempt to avenge his only other MMA loss?
Jan Blachowicz is not messing. He says he can make 185 comfortably in 3/4 months.
If he can do it safely, and with a no fresh opponent for Izzy at 185, I’m not mad at this at all.
This is such a stunning KO. So good, so young...we’re gonna have a lot of fun watching Chimaev for many years. His run might be one of the few great things to happen in 2020.
Thrilled to announce that

What an achievement for Brendan Loughnane. Told “no” his whole career, tonight he claims the PFL title and his biggest pay-check to date.
For a man who has faced many crossroads, his 2022 with PFL has been one of the best paths he’s taken us down.

When Dana says "this is bigger than Conor getting fired", does everyone else translate that in their head as "No, we're absolutely not firing Conor"?
Just making sure we're all singing off the same hymn sheet here.
Thanks to everyone who reached out to me over the past 24 hours. It means the world to me. Very excited about the future. And, don’t worry, Eurobash, isn’t going anywhere either!
This day last week Ariel watched his one of his first games of darts. First message he sent me was “I like Smith”.
One week later, Smith is a world champion appearing on The MMA Hour and Ariel is the biggest influencer darts has ever seen.
🤯
My take on P4P:
Number one (Volk) fought number 2 (Islam).
Number two (Islam) beat number 1 (Volk).
Number two (Islam) is now number 1.
Usually we don’t have the benefit of the two best guys fighting each other in this philosophical debate.
It’s not a popularity contest.
Ian Machado Garry is so confident of stopping Daniel Rodriguez that he’s even calling the shot - a right head kick.
“If it’s anything else, I didn’t mean it,” says the undefeated Irish welterweight.
The lad who got choked by Diaz reminds me of the people that jump into tiger enclosures at the zoo, get bitten and then the authorities come and have to put the tiger down.
This and other magnificent takes on our latest episode…
