Our research in @OklahomaWatch: Oklahoma does not have same-day, automatic, or fully online voter registration. CIRCLE researcher @Peterdeguz talks about how those and other policies could help strengthen youth voting.

TURNOUT: We estimate that 27% of youth cast a ballot in 2022—the second-highest youth turnout we have seen in a midterm election. In battleground states, we estimate that turnout was even higher: 31%. This is an early, day-after estimate that may shift!

There's a lot of talk about whether youth are motivated to vote by issues and candidates. But are they also supported by policies that make it easy to register and vote—or hindered by restrictive election laws? Our latest analysis, led by @Peterdeguz:

In a battleground state where candidates win by the slimmest margins, experts say even a modest share of voters could swing the midterm election. And young people are a formidable force. My latest for @WPR
Young people make up about 16 percent of the state's electorate, according to an analysis by the Center for Information & Research on Civic Learning and Engagement. And they could make the election all the more competitive if they show up to the polls. https://t.co/c2Ygyhf8Rw

NEW: Nearly half of youth voted by mail or ballot drop-off in 2020, and many are poised to do so again in the 2022 midterms. But youth are more likely to return their ballots later and could face issues in states with early deadlines + other restrictions.
