This is a recent performance clip. This was a fun playing moment. Grooving, listening, and reacting is what makes it fun. #livejazz #jazz #jazzdrumming #jazzdrums #jazzdrummer #grooving #listening #reacting

There are many Jaco solo record classics, an amazing body of work with weatherreport, as well as many sideman recordings. For example, check out the #jonimitchell records… What are some of your favorite #jaco moments?

I recently saw these pictures on social media. Thanks to the original photographer and poster. I heard and saw #jacopastorius play bass and also play drums on one occasion in duo with #joezawinul. Unforgettable…

This left hand lead herta pattern over a common Afro-Cuban foot pattern is a fun challenge. Think sound, feel, and groove with this pattern. The tempo is less important than these other considerations. Also, feel free to crank up the hand tempo for a technique challenge.

This pattern is from Jim Chapin’s groundbreaking book Advanced Techniques For The Modern Drummer. The snare accents give motion and vibe to the pattern. I played it with matched and traditional grips. Both techniques feel good to play. I like the feeling and sound of both grips.

I heard this great band at Pioneer Works in Brooklyn Friday night. Killer band/killer show/killer crowd/killer venue. Thanks to David Butler for the tik and a nice BBQ hang after at Hometown BBQ #pinopalladino #chrisdave #chrisdaddydave #samgendel #blakemills #pioneerworks

This pattern combines a triplet 10 stroke roll variation used in the classic snare drum solo #threecamps and a single stroke pattern favored by drumming legend #neilpeart 🥁 it combines double strokes and single stroke and it is a great #drumwarmup and a #drumtechnique builder.

A recent car ride reminded me about the old saying “slow and steady wins the race.” Also, it reminded me of what kind of person I want to be. #slowandsteady #slowandsteadywinstherace #bekind #patience #inspiration

In this video, each way I move creates a different sound, feel, and vibe. I have experimented with this varied movement concept and it has helped me in so many ways. There is no one way to play. Tag me with your way and/or ways of moving. #traditionalgrip #drumming

There was a concert for the memorial, and NY’s finest jazz musicians played their best for the occasion. Drumming great Steve Jordan was the musical director for the event, and, in this video, he is groovin as only he can!

There was a memorial for jazz great Al Foster this week at St. Peter’s Church in NYC. Many people came out to celebrate the jazz master’s life and give thanks for all he gave thru his music and generosity of spirit.

Everyone did a great job. I caught Bernard "Pretty" Purdie playing his Purdie Shuffle. It was a great moment… It was nice to see many familiar faces as well as to meet some new people in the community. Best to the Famularo family. 🙏 #domfamularo

In today’s video, I am playing the same hand exercise on the drum set. For the video, I play a slower and a faster version of the exercise. Moving to various drums and cymbals makes this exercise even more of a challenge.

In a recent video, I played an exercise by drumming great Jack DeJohnette on a drum pad with and without a foot ostinato. The exercise, as taught by Jack, combines singles, doubles, and paradiddles in a continuous and improvised flow.
