Current day AI-based neonatal EEG seizure detectors are built to operate on the raw EEG signal, which results in a much better performance with high accuracy and only 3-4 false positives a day. We've come a long way.

AI-based neonatal EEG seizure detectors (all seizure and spike detectors, really) have come a long way. In the early days, they were trained on feature recognition, which resulted in a lot false positives, to the extent they just weren't useful, and clinicians turned them off.
