EXCLUSIVE: On the heels of a Vancouver police report on the city's social safety net spending, incoming-B.C. premier David Eby says the province will spearhead a coordinated approach to tackle the Downtown Eastside crisis. https://t.co/FNIPULkajo

.@VancouverPD tomorrow will release a report it commissioned into spending on city's social safety net - a summary of which leaked this week. I've read both now, and let me summarize them for you: Misleading fiction. My latest @TheOrcaBC @Glacier_Media https://t.co/HU2Qm1SfkI

If youโ€™re looking to pick up a good work of fiction for your reading list these days, you might consider venturing into the world of fantasy as penned by the Vancouver Police Department.

Think ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ is boring? Letโ€™s talk about Project Sidewinder. Itโ€™s a leaked 90s intelligence report from a CSIS-RCMP task force. It claims organized crime, spies, billionaires, & corrupt politicians work together in ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ. Itโ€™s some of the wildest stuff youโ€™ll ever hear. <thread>๐Ÿงต๐Ÿ‘‡

Recently I learned about a man who has trained 1,000+ people to block wind and solar projects. I read through all his training materials, presentations, and seminars. Here's what I learned about him and how his students plan to "win the war on clean energy." ๐Ÿงต

A wild ending to Port Moody's election: incumbent councillor @amy_lubik lost the 6th and final slot for council by two votes on election night, but after a partial judicial recount, was tied for the final space โ€” and then won after her name was picked out of a container

So... here's something that I find weird about the NDP. David Eby has zero ties to organized labour. He hasn't held a union card, or organized a workplace. The BCFED had to take him on a tour of Unionized workplaces for photoshoots to Unionwash him.

Sorry to ruin your Monday morning but seems BCโ€™s Environmental Assessment Office exists in a parallel universe where climate & energy facts donโ€™t matter: B.C. Maintains New LNG Project Will Cut Global Emissions #ClimateCrisis #LNG #bcpoli via @theenergymix

Twitter hive: I'm looking for photos of dead salmon unable to get upriver to spawn, or rivers in drought from this year. Any connections to folks with photos we can use in a report highlighting the climate emergency? We can offer a small honorarium.

NEW ๐Ÿ›ข๏ธโค๏ธโ€๐Ÿ”ฅComprehensive study confirms there is no space for new oil and gas if the world follows a 1.5C pathway "new oil and gas is incompatible with 1.5C" ๐ŸŒ„๐ŸŒฌ๏ธRedirecting $570bn of new oil & gas investment could "fully fund" wind & solar for 1.5C 1/ https://t.co/GtYVvL9WN2

I wonder what BC NDP bylaws say about conflict of interest. In a 15 minute google, I flagged 17/39 execs with potential conflict of interests in the Anjali DQ vote. Eg. -Declared support for a candidate -Work for a group/person who endorsed a candidate Caveats to follow...

So CUPE can endorse Eby, be a 3rd party advertiser, have members working on his campaign, AND have a seat on the councils that voted to disqualify his opponent? Because @dogwoodbc wasn't 'sufficiently independent'? Sure, that seems fair. #bcpoli #bcndp #letherrun

A bit much for Eby to give a speech "welcoming all the new members" given that according to NDP chief electoral officer Elizabeth Cull's report: "The Eby Campaign requested that all new BC NDP memberships received since the leadership contest began on July 17, 2022 be suspended"

There is all the more work to do in community when the @bcndp govt isnโ€™t prioritizing our issues - find a group working on what you care about and join in. For me: #LandBack #SafeSupply #Housing #ClimateEmergency
