Nigerians are incredibly talented, they just need to be in the right place/s that lets them excel and you’d see wonders.
We ran into a technical problem days ago, LLM related, we couldn’t find any solution online (New tool, new problems). We started making frantic calls
Pepsi released the creative on the left as an ad for Halloween. Coca-Cola used the same creative to get back at them by only changing the copy.
This is a brilliant clap-back.
Guys!!!!!! We won, we won! Pitch result out and we are declared winners. Small ad agency with big dreams, fighting like our lives depended on it. To my team, 🍾 this is to you. Waiting for the second brand now.
I have two agency pitches next week, I’m on the edge expecting a big news regarding our event in Rwanda next week. There’s a crises that scares me coming next week.
My birthday is next week.
What a week!
May the earth gift me with joy next week. I need a win, desperately!
That Linda Ikeji’s tweet about Olaniwon Ajayi is what happens when someone thinks they have money and that money, mixed with ignorance doesn’t let them know when their ego is dragging them to death. Why not first Google Olaniwon Ajayi before tweeting that nonsense? Oluwa oh!
The Nigerian tech community has done more to rebuild brand Nigeria globally than every government, culture, orientation and information ministries (combined) could ever do.
Argue with your phone’s broken screen.
I know we love vawulence and gossip but I think this Flutterwave story is exaggerated and clickbait. Might also just be Kenya’s local politics and intrigues at play.
Be slow to celebrate till you get the full picture. No be everything be vawulence.
This is not exactly how I imagined this year’s birthday, but Coronavirus has made us understand that imagination can be fickle and the best of strategy and planning can be brought to its knees.
Irrespective, today I celebrate myself.
Everyday I look at the growth of
@Paystack
, it gladdens my heart, I always pray that it succeeds because it has people with a good heart as founders. With or without my prayers, it will succeed but I pray for them nevertheless.
A little story of my encounter with Shola.
Anyone running an affordable dispatch startup I can engage for a quick project?
You need to be able to make 50 deliveries within a single day in Lagos.
Please do reach out.
I’m also looking for same recommendation in Nairobi & SA
Please do assist | Retweet 🙏🏾
If you can, say a little prayer for everyone in my office. It’s a really hard time. We don’t even know who will console the other, even ex-staff who worked with Tariah have been reaching out all day and throwing everyone back into tears. God please, this is hard. I can’t sleep.
Proud of my team, after 5 months, today we closed out on a brand strategy, culture change & corporate transformation project as part of a major M&A of one of Nigeria’s oldest investment banks.
In Sept, we lead them to the market.
Wey my red🍷, I’m brain tired.
There’s something the coffers of Rivers State does to you once you sit on that throne as a governor. It’s a spirit, it possesses you with an uncontrollable desire to be president of Nigeria.
No past governor, nor any future governor can escape it.
Emilia, it’s been 1 whole year today without you as my best friend. Quite often, I whisper, E, what do you think about this? Because I still doubt it’s real, because I still feel your energy around even after 1 year.
There’s no week that passes that you don’t cross my mind. 😭
My prayer at the beginning of this year was “Lord, give me these dates 21-23 Aug, 2019”. Prayed about those dates every morning of January. Sent over 300 emails January alone.
The email activating it dropped in my mail on the 30th. Grateful🙏🏾
To Rwanda 🇷🇼 we head this August.
Mhan! Everything banks once used to do, right now it seems only Fintechs can afford it. From celebrity endorsements, deep pocketed media buying and now end of year shows. Even marketing agencies are struggling to keep talent cos of these guys. Wondering what bank CEOs/CMOs think.
As tech startups hack marketing for growth, they must also learn to invest in government relations. It’s the survival game that the legacy businesses have learnt to play.
Go to the table with the govt, they might be less intelligent in your eyes but dem fit do you strong thing.
31st Dec 2019, My last tweet of the decade was a wish to 2020 to grant me a 1hr meeting with the CEO of SterlingBank. Several weeks after,
@suleimana
reached out and made it happen. My best 1hr conversation in 2020 yet.
A desaturated selfie to the beginning of greater things.
Dear
@elonmusk
, how many retweets to have you accept an invitation to speak at a business leader’s conference in Nigeria in 2020.
This is me pushing my faith.
Why are Southerners always tweeting like they know Northerners than the Northerners themselves? I find it distasteful and a tad disrespectful.
The North will do this, the North will do that, let me tell you about the North, the North will shock you….
Just shut up.
In 2012 I dropped the lenses and retired from photography. In honor of world photography day today, I’m doing a throwback to my last exhibition (series) in 2012 titled Mamiwater Monologues. *All shot on the sea.
Returning to photography later this year though.
Guys please I need your help on this survey for a project I'm working on. Please kindly participate and retweet.
Which of these brands comes top of mind when you think of going to a petrol station in Nigeria?
This morning, somewhere in Lagos, a man went to separate a fight on his street, while at it, he was punched on the neck, he fell, hit his head on a stone & died.
A phone in my house rang, followed by a loud scream & cry.
He was our nanny’s father.
My children are saddened. 😭
I finally wrote a Twitter bio after nearly a year.
The days ahead will be interesting. For now, this is all there is to know. But if you’re a VC, you can request a deck.
It’s day zero.
The creative talent in this country is just something else. Imagine if we had a working country in addition to this 🤔, the world won’t contain Nigeria.
Ex agency staff - who once complained about non payment of pitch fees by brands- has now moved on to client side & replying agency enquires about pitch fees with “why should we pay pitch fees?”.
Unbelievable! Everyone is just waiting out their turn to have a taste of power.
I was at
@DangoteGroup
’s new refinery truck yard till 2am today arguing helplessly, with hopes of salvaging my car that one of their trucks rendered useless. All the CSO could say was that I go report my case to the police as the driver isn’t a permanent staff so they won’t pay
80% of the work we’ve had to do is negotiating contracts and partnerships, 20% technology. 500+ a****** partnerships so far, massive global inventory. US, UK, EU, India 100% covered, all in 6 months of grueling work.
Nigeria taught me how to hustle and I’m grateful for it.
It’s the same young people that will jump around successful founders at events saying mentor me or invest in my business that jubilate the most when there’s any slight crisis. What do you want? Let it all burn to the ground so you -with your miserable life- can say we told you.
Looking for a TV presenter who can anchor Business & Finance shows, conduct live interviews, host live business & corporate events etc. (Full Time) Location: Lagos. RT & Recommend if you know any. Apply with sample clips to newhire

I entered a furniture shop that newly opened close to my house to window shop. The entire 500sqm showroom is filled with only these royal chairs. Why do Nigerians love these chairs? They feel chaotic to me.
Will the Ogonis allow the Federal government resume Oil exploration without first addressing the demands of the Ogoni bill of rights? Does a change of name from Shell to NNPC change anything in the minds of the Ogonis?
I’d love to follow and see how this plays out.
@IAtalkspace
The problems are many, aside their long payment times, they seemed to be quite organized and standardized, cared about quality of service and experience for users, which a lot of the drivers antagonized and moved to bolt that condoned a lot of ‘Nigerian anyhowness’.
Spent yesterday evening with my 6yr old planning a surprise birthday for my wife’s 32nd birthday today.
Today things flipped, I ended up on admission in the hospital.
I’d make it out of here and we’d rewind this day.
Happy birthday love.
There are about 9200 registered BDCs in Nigeria who are allocated $20,000 per week at official rate but sell at black market rates.
On this ban, I’m indifferent.
Problem now is that you’re now at the mercy of some sloppy bank staff.
Spent an enormous amount of time with my crew traversing treacherous bushes and forests across both North & Southern Nigeria, carrying out research work and documentary filming on Gold (in the North/South West) and Crude oil in the South.
I’d drop random pics in this thread.
I’d get back to funding & building media for Africa at the end of this year. I’d probably just rebrand TheNerveAfrica and get it back up. 2 years after we stopped publication, it still has huge digital assets than most current players can afford.
Search for a co-founder begins.
There’s a lot of understanding & respect for the true practice of brand mgt everywhere else but Nigeria. Got an international brief for a pitch this week and they’re asking if 4 months will be enough for us to deliver on brand strategy.
Nigeria: can you deliver by tomorrow?
One of my biggest win this year was having a client point me to a much bigger opportunity, even though he could have ignored so it doesn’t become a distraction to his company’s work.
He invited me to dinner and said to me “I’ve always thought you’re worth more and could earn…
Tired and stressed out but still excited about the announcement of this event & partnership today. Planning phase took almost 2 years of traveling/meetings and finally here we are, counting down to August. The real work begins.
The Iweala family though, just thinking about holiday periods when they all meet and discussing each other’s work. Everyone is accomplished in their fields, earning global recognition.
The Lekki elite have raided Ebeano, panic-buying the supermarket out of stock. Chevron drive was on a lockdown lastnight, all the traffic coming from Ebeano alone.
I’m going to Ajah market, if you people come here, I’d go to Epe market. Stay in your lane please.
I have two agency pitches next week, I’m on the edge expecting a big news regarding our event in Rwanda next week. There’s a crises that scares me coming next week.
My birthday is next week.
What a week!
May the earth gift me with joy next week. I need a win, desperately!
I was pretty excited about this year. I told myself “this was that year”, then this pandemic hit, doors closed & the optimism gave way to fear. Given up for the most parts since March & looking forward to 2021 until a swell of optimism hit me again this night.
I see the clouds.
Day 1 of transforming this space (last used more than 5 years ago) into our new office space.
All architectural, interior & furniture design done by our team. I will be updating you with final design in a few days. Mad transformation will happen here.
I’ve done more work on a single project, (strictly indoors, little socializing, my ass to a chair, sitting in front of a computer) over the last 6 months, than I have on 10 projects over the last 5 years.
10 months ago, I couldn’t have imagined myself making a huge career
Because most people are not discerning, and curious or even knowledgeable enough to interrogate things, data that appears factual on the surface can be easily weaponized and presented to them and they’d run amok.
A reminder that election season is before us.
How do you call someone mid afternoon to come pitch at 9am the next day and want to see both a marketing strategy document and creatives during pitch?
Me: Turn it down
Me: Turn what down when office rent is due? We die here!
The hero that deserves the attention is the journalist that asked the question “who is bankrolling you?”.
Now we know why the question riled up the man in question.
China has perfected this logistics thing. Ship very weighty stuff from China and under 2 weeks it’s already here. Something else I shipped from Ghana 3 weeks ago, it will arrive October 20th. Ghana just here. Maybe I’m the one that doesn’t understand how logistics business works.
Incase we’re unable to tweet again, I thought to let you guys know that in another 12 weeks, we will be launching a hospitality tech startup for Africans.
When we launch and announce, you people might not see it because we’d probably go launch from Nairobi.
E go be. 👋
Is there anyone that lives in PH and knows someone diagnosed with a disease as a result of the soot in Rivers State? Know anyone involved in the kpofire business I can speak with? Please refer, I am shooting a documentary.
A bizarre morning 5yrs ago. Couldnt sleep, woke my wife up around 3am & told her we needed to change cities. On my way to work that morning, troubled abt career, I turned around & drove to the airport, flew to Lagos & rented a property. Had the decision crystallized within 24hrs.
10min into watching the blood sisters film, I knew I wanted to work with Nancy Isime, started thinking which of our clients was suitable, hit the road negotiating and within weeks, this happened. Glad to have pulled this off. Next week, we get on set for our TVC.
I don’t know if Shola is a Christian, but isn’t that act what we call seed sowing? It’s been several years after, I’d never know all the places he’s been doing this but may all his seeds bear endless fruits.
And let the congregation say a loud Amen.
My first full length documentary film is almost here. Screening in Abuja on the 18th of May, 2022.
You saw it here first.
If you’re in Abuja, DM for exclusive invites. You’d sure love it.
So excited, after so many months of shooting, we put in blood & sweat on this project.
Someone reminded me y’day that I hawked music CDs on campus. How did I forget? We laughed so hard.
Thinking about that period felt so nostalgic. Take a day off from campus, travel to Aba, buy CDs to sell. Then I took a night job, then photographer, graphic designer, printer 😂
I’m thankful for quality friends. I think this is one thing I have & proud of. I am never scared of my wild imaginations, because I trust my support system that there must be those who can take the heat with me.
You’ll made history last week. You know yourselves.
Ye are gods.
I’m not a fan of people who get into a craft or profession and without haven gained enough mastery, take to training others as a business. Some, 3 months into starting a new business want to train others. It sends a signal that there’s no business activity happening. Perhaps...
These days, I just feel so numb and indifferent about Nigeria and all of its problems. Even the coming elections, I feel so indifferent and unconcerned.
My default state of mind is “you’re here by choice so anything you see, take it like that”. I don’t scream about bad roads…
@saratu
Years ago, I got this response via email, not from a Nigerian though, this was my exact response. Anytime I think about that day, I burst into laughter. Nigeria can really mess up your mind. 😂
One day, some of una go old, look back & be wondering that you expended this much unnecessary energy to catch a little high on social media.
If I had this energy & access to info some of you have now in my 20s, I for don buy all of Banana Island. Now I’m hustling for 1plot.
