Truck parking is a nationwide issue, and with the high volume of freight traffic coming through PA, @GovernorShapiro's administration knew that we needed to tackle this problem. I’m proud we continue to get things done for commercial drivers!
Up to 25 truckers can now park at the I-79 SB weigh station in Washington Co. These spots are part of the 1,202 PennDOT is adding by the end of 2026 to improve driver safety: https://t.co/scPj0t9Nw9. See current spots & new ones as added: https://t.co/zNnFMs1fvq & free 511PA app.

PennDOT shows up in every county, every community, every time. I saw firsthand the flood damage to this area. Our team & local partners wasted no time responding, opening a temporary road in 2 weeks. I couldn’t be prouder of our teamwork to restore a critical regional connection.
We joined local officials & industry partners to celebrate the opening of a new Route 14 bridge over Trout Run in Lycoming Co. Flash flooding from Hurricane Debby destroyed this bridge in Aug. 2024 & we reopened it to traffic just over 1 yr. later. More: https://t.co/bv8yjVOydd.

In rural areas of PA, folks are used to driving longer distances, but it can be time-consuming & inconvenient. There are also fewer driver license centers in these areas, so programs like remote knowledge testing can save aspiring young drivers & their families a lot of time.
Northern Tioga School District students now have increased access to learner’s permit testing, thanks to a new pilot program that allows them to take their knowledge test at a district high school instead of going to a driver’s license center. More info: https://t.co/t0ejfT7xH4.

With the Scenic Byway designation, the four-county region is receiving the recognition it deserves. The Byways program will be a boon to tourism in the region and help local communities preserve what makes the area so special.
It's official! PA has a brand-new scenic byway! The Route 6 Heritage Corridor in Warren, McKean, Potter, and Tioga counties runs through Pennsylvania’s northern tier, linking small towns, rich histories, and stunning sights. Come see one of the most scenic drives in America!

Building on existing ATV trail successes, we’ve developed a way for ATV riders to travel safely and efficiently while supporting our rural economies.
Did you hear? Local govts or regional organizations that manage trail networks can request an ATV route designation from PennDOT! Learn how these orgs can make a request to the applicable regional office: https://t.co/xYxB6qrN5v.

Just one incident of passing a stopped school bus is too many, and this many violations in just one day is unacceptable. Responsibly sharing the road with students and school buses helps keep all of us safe.
This year’s Operation Safe Stop saw 188 violations of PA’s School Bus Stopping Law (up from 176 reported last year). This annual targeted enforcement campaign is intended to stress the importance of safe driving around students & school buses. See more: https://t.co/e0aQ9ZIJzQ.

By adding these spots – and looking at ways to add even more – we’re giving truckers many more options to safely park and meet their rest requirements. As a commercial driver’s license-holder myself, I know how important this commonsense approach is to our economy and workforce.
PennDOT made 56 truck parking spots available in northeast PA this week, part of the 1,202 parking spaces in 133 locations PennDOT is adding by the end of 2026. See existing spots (& new ones as added) on https://t.co/zNnFMs0HFS & free 511PA app. More: https://t.co/q1CrtPO4x7.

@PennDOTSec, retirees, and local officials honored the late Kenneth C. Larson, Jr., at a sign unveil last week. Larson, who served as the first District Engineer for PennDOT District 3, was instrumental in the planning and construction of I-80, I-180, and Route 15.

The PennDOT team is serving Pennsylvanians every day, and each year we look for feedback on what we’re doing well and could improve. The survey also lets the public tell us how they receive roadway information and helps us find potential educational opportunities.
Tell us what you think! Our annual customer satisfaction survey is one way we look for areas to learn and improve. You can share your thoughts on PennDOT construction and maintenance activities. Click here to take the 24-question survey by 10/21: https://t.co/ZPi16Fke0c.

I’m proud we’re getting stuff done for commercial drivers! This first statewide expansion of designated parking spaces – other than through facility construction projects – and will help address a longstanding, nationwide challenge and improve driver safety. @GovernorShapiro
The William Penn Highway park & ride lot in Northampton Co. is now a safe option for truckers to meet rest requirements - part of the 1,200+ parking spots we'll be adding by the end of 2026. See existing spots on https://t.co/zNnFMs1fvq & 511PA app. More: https://t.co/DXbUkqCZFv.

Thanks to our team’s diligence in 2023/2024 & @GovernorShapiro’s persistence to secure federally appropriated funding, we can continue making EVs more accessible for PA travelers. That quick action meant we could adapt to nat'l program changes while locking in investments for PA.
PA’s 20th federally funded EV charging station in Pittsburgh make us #1 in the U.S.! ⚡️ We’re also the 1st state to get federal approval to invest in more EV charging options for PA communities through a new funding round opening 10/7! Learn more: https://t.co/LqRpkE6gvD.
