These ideas profoundly influenced my own research. They pushed me to move beyond rigid EF categories, explore relational reasoning, and rethink task design—especially in diverse socio-cultural contexts. Understanding context is key to making EF research more inclusive. (4/5).

However, more recent papers challenged this view. One of Bunge’s biggest contributions is expanding the EF framework. She argues for including monitoring and relational thinking as core components—both essential for goal-directed behavior but often overlooked. (3/5).

When I started studying EFs, I felt the field rigid: working memory, inhibition, and cognitive flexibility dominated the conversation. Children were classified as having "good" or "bad" EFs, and interventions aimed to fit them into these categories. (2/5).

Why does this matter? .📚In educational settings, assessments that rely on sustained attention may be affected by mood shifts, while knowledge-based tests remain stable .📷These insights help design better assessments that reflect ability—not mood-driven attention changes.(5/n).

Key findings:.✅ Mood did not impact overall test scores. ✅ However, attention allocation changed—participants in a positive mood showed a less structured scanpath. ✅ This challenges the idea that stress impairs performance in knowledge-free reasoning tasks. (4/n).

This experiment started during my master’s, but at the time, we lacked the technical tools to analyze eye movements in-depth. We could see differences qualitatively, but a quantitative method was missing. (2/n).
