We have set 2 new Government Targets on law & order. 1. 20,000 fewer people who are victims of an assault, robbery, or sexual assault by 2030. 2. 15% reduction in the total number of children and young people with serious and persistent offending behaviour by 2030.

Since 2022, we have been fundamentally opposed to Labour’s hate speech changes that would bring a significant reduction in free expression and free speech.

I’ve instructed the Law Commission to stop all work on hate speech legislation.

Today we put an end to the cottage industry of Section 27 Reports costing the taxpayer millions with no benefits to the real victims of crime. An important step forward towards restoring law and order.

We're changing the law to give greater weight to gang membership as an aggravating factor at sentencing. Enabling courts to impose more severe punishments.

Victims are our priority, not offenders. That's why we're removing government funding for Section 27 reports, and have scrapped Labour's prison reduction target.

This election, you have a clear choice between a tough on crime National-led Government that will take urgent action to ensure our communities are safer or three more years of a Labour-led Coalition of Chaos cosying up to the gangs.

#REVEALED The Ministry of Pacific Peoples spent almost $53,000 on four Budget 2023 breakfast events promoting labour MP’s at a cost of $76 per person who attended. More extravagant Govt spending by labour - with taxpayers money being used to promote Labour MP’s in election year.

Labour’s overriding justice approach to reduce the prison population, without reducing violent crime, has failed. National will unashamedly make public safety and victims the priority of the criminal justice system.

Alarm bells ringing on home detention breaches. Because Labour's only law & order target is reducing the prison population, we're seeing more people with convictions for serious violence or sexual offences on home detention. https://t.co/IqgYb1RzNC

The National Party believes it's time to raise the bar for eligibility for home detention.

I'm calling on the new Justice Minister to abandon Labour’s target to reduce the prison population by 30%. Their priority has to be reversing the 33 per cent increase in violent crime under Labour. That starts with removing the target of reducing the prison population.

After six years in power, Labour has finally accepted that its soft-on-crime approach has failed. The Prime Minister blamed society: it’s not society’s fault. We need to restore personal responsibility and end Labour’s culture of excuses.

Kiri Allan seems confused as Chris Hipkins on new justice policy - said in House it was cabinet decision to create a new offence punishable for 10 years for those using young people to commit crime - except it didn’t. Made it an aggravating factor in Sentencing Act. Confusion!

National will limit sentence reductions, introduce a young serious offender category, boot camps and grant Police new powers to disrupt gang activities. Restoring law and order will be a top priority for us. https://t.co/ILBP6boJX7

Despite the PM admitting the number of ram-raids has exploded under Labour, it is still refusing to impose real consequences. Instead of boot camps as National has proposed, it’s playtime for ram raiders. What Labour did not say is whether KFC will be provided.

Labour's inaction and hand-wringing has allowed criminal brazenness to take hold to the extent that a gang has now shut down a town. National will give Police the power to issue dispersal notices to stop gang members gathering in public where they intimidate, threaten & assault.

Michael Wood has probably asked officials 12 times when the new Northland Motorway will open. No wonder he's not surprised when he never gets an answer.

Kiri Allen’s parallel universe - me: “will Cantabrians have equal voting rights after the Canterbury Regional Council (Ngai Tahu Representation) Act takes effect? Allan: yes. How do Ministers getting away with talking nonsense?
