Yesterday, reps of the old Irish Regiments, which were disbanded at the time of partition, paraded at the Cenotaph in London. Note the Standard which is 3rd from the left - The Old Contemptibles - remembering those Irish soldiers who served between Aug & Nov 1914. Q S

To all of you… I brought my son, Peter, with me, when I was making that programme for @UTVNews Now, 81 years on, it is more important than ever!!! We remember the Royal Ulster Rifles, and the many other international national regiments who secured our freedom to today. QS.

It is important to acknowledge the bravery of this man, who became a dear friend… the last Regimental Sergeant Major of The Royal Ulster Rifles. None of us, today, can fully understand what he endured… because, we weren’t there! We forget Billy, and his comrades, at our peril.

Deeply saddened to hear about the death of Sir Kenneth Bloomfield. I have known Ken, and his wife, Lady Elizabeth, for many years! Much will be said about his contribution to Public Life in Northern Ireland! I can pay him no higher compliment than to say that he was a gentleman!.

Delighted to do my bit for local journalism, on this evening’s @UTVNews Thank you @rodneyedwards from @impartialrep and Ray Sanderson, editor of @Ferm_Herald Allegedly, Ray is retiring at the end of this week. Perish the thought!!!! Surely, there is one more story in all of us!!.
