@SciTechgovuk More clarity is needed on how the Government plans to ensure health data is kept safe and secure, and members of the public need to be consulted to understand their perspectives on the uses of patient data for AI and ensure any access to data has public trust at the heart. 🧵6/7.

@SciTechgovuk Secretary Peter Kyle said in a statement that the NHS and goverment would "always be in control of data" and government sources have said that de-identified NHS data would only be included in the datasets made available "once privacy concerns [are] met". 🧵5/7.

Alongside making existing datasets available, the plan recommends the Government play an active role in shaping the creation of new datasets in strategically significant areas to enhance research in areas like disease recognition and predicting health outcomes. 🧵4/7.

In creating a National Data Library and recommends rapidly identifying public data sets to make available for AI researchers and innovators, exploring the use of synthetic data generation techniques for highly sensitive data sets. 🧵3/7.
