Currently defence teams are invited to submit a list of search terms which the Crown Prosecution Service then consider. Pick the wrong keywords & you may miss material salient to your case. The algorithm applied is purely lexical, not semantic, & cannot infer meaning or context

Enhancing the keyword search process with natural language queries would enable an AI Agent to infer intent, and identify patterns across the entirety of the evidence, reducing the risk that important confounding or corroborating information is missed
