These subtle changes have led to positive results, especially in August. Slightly concerned about the 4S velocity dropping by more than 1 MPH, perhaps as a byproduct of throwing more sliders. Still excited to see Harrison debut whenever he gets the chance!. 4/.

Knowing what Boston loves to adjust, it’s cutting out 4S with poor ride-traits, and Harrison certainly fits that criteria. Conversely, there’s been an upshot in ‘slider’ usage, exclusively thrown to righties. 3/

If you noticed from the image above, the cluster of changeups is inherently different. Though it’s a 10° drop in arm angle, it’s nearly 700 rpms and now averaging -1.5” of iVB. 2/

Kyle Harrison was the infamous centerpiece of the Rafael Devers trade. His run prevention has outpaced some of the peripherals, leaving a mixed picture of where he stands: . 49.1 IP (11 G): 3.65 ERA / 4.52 FIP / 9.9% K-BB% . 1/

Payton Tolle is set to make his MLB debut shortly! . Made a rapid rise up High-A. Features remarkable ride from a low arm-slot, developed a kick-change, and the command is elite.

RT @pitchprofiler: PAYTON TOLLE IS OFFICIALLY A BIG LEAGUER. Armed with one of the nastiest low-slot, high-ride fastballs you’ll ever see,….

Alex Hoppe’s results haven’t came to fruition yet, but the makeup is evident. CH gets a ton of deviation from a high slot (44% whiff%), 4S can touch triple digits, mid-90s cutter misses bats, and a hard slider that also generates whiffs, though it’s been prone to hard contact.

Jhostynxon Garcia is in the midst of his MLB debut tonight! . As for the profile, he has a free-swinging approach and struggles to make contact against velocity, but when ball hits bat, ball goes far.

Been keeping a close eye on Dustin May, and there's been a few changeups flashed tonight. Though they fall within a similar movement band as his sinkers, three of them have distantly been 3–4 MPH slower and spinning roughly ~800 RPM less than his average sinker.

Newly signed 1B Nathaniel Lowe was rather underwhelming in Washington, but being in Boston now offers a reset for him. A selective, all-fields hitter with strong zone control and EV metrics that hint at more impact than his stat line suggests, paired with a 104 wRC+ vs RHP.

Kristian Campbell has turned a curve over the last month (22 games). Elite swing decisions and contact skills have fueled a 182 wRC+ and 1.056 OPS, though the batted-ball authority needs to stabilize. Even so, he’s making a promotion feel increasingly inevitable!

RT @RBunikiewicz: Nick Burdi, 32, is DFA'd yet again. He's only throw 30.1 IPs at the MLB level, but the stuff is among the best in the ML….

Nick has proven himself to compete in the both the MLB/ MiLB—it's just a matter of him staying healthy. If I'm a team taking a flyer on him, it's figuring out ways to align the upper and lower-halves of his body—emphasize mobility and pelvic control. Fits: WSH, MIN, SEA. 6/7.

Guesstimating:. 2023: Subtle leg lift with a steady pelvis, early front-side engagement, and strong rotation over a firm lead leg, staying upright through release. 2025: Higher, longer lift, more backward tilt, less front-side pull, and hip cave-in at ER. 95 vs 98 MPH. 5/7

Notably, his arm angle has halved since 2023, and now that the arm has to orientate differently and the lack of backspin he gets (pronation inability)—movement now concentrates more deadzone to his arm angle. Rest of the delivery has had to compensate + tradeoffs.⏭️. 4/7

Burdi has undergone notable adaptations. Last season [2024], he began leaning into more supination, likely to create more separation on his sinker and build three distinct, complementary pitches—at the trade-off expense of losing velocity and greater injury susceptibility. 3/7
