OTD in Jets History Sept 26, 1984 and Dale Hawerchuk is named captain of the Jets. The 21 year old had been wearing the C during the preseason after former captain Lucien Deblois was traded to the Canadiens. Hawerchuk wore the C officially for the first time that night v LA Kings
