If you're setting up your own cold email infrastructure, you'll need to warm up your IP address. But Microsoft/Outlook will make it a pain. Little thread on how to do it 🧵

1. Your IP will initially be blocked with: "550 5.7.1 Unfortunately, messages from [IP] weren't sent. Please contact your Internet service provider since part of their network is on our block list (S3140)." Don't fret.

2. Not surprisingly, Hotmail's own SNDS tool will show zero historical data for the IP. Their support, however, claimed emails from our IP had been reported as unwanted, which is false.

3. Canned responses: Insiders believe that Hotmail support staff are restricted to canned responses, which can make navigating these issues even more challenging.

4. Reaching out to Hotmail support through olcsupport-dot-office-dot-com is a must. Just be prepared for the process to take time and require persistence, but in the end you'll end up with the this result.
