Damar Hamlin genuinely is what people are saying of him. A good person, a role model to the community and someone who always understood the significance of his stature. Local kids looked up to him when he was at Pitt, and he embraced that.
Two things:
1. Jordan Addison is not in the transfer portal, which means coaches from other teams cannot contact him.
2. Jordan Addison is in Los Angeles today.
Four-star RB
@willisyasin6
just committed to Pitt. The top-200 prospect in the class of 2024 chose the Panthers over offers from Alabama, Michigan, Penn State, West Virginia and more.
Pitt finishes the 2021 season 11-3 overall. Coastal Division champs and ACC champs with more exposure and success than the program has enjoyed in 40 years.
Israel Abanikanda has:
- More yards per game than Corum
- More yards per carry than Brown
- More rushing TDs than all of them
- More total TDs than anyone in the nation
If I'm Pat Narduzzi, I'm absolutely banging the drum every chance I get that the Steelers drafted Kenny Pickett (and James Conner) because they saw those guys up close and personal.
The problem is, every time that fake slide gets brought up, it feels like that's the reason Kenny Pickett is in NYC tonight. And that's not the case: he was legitimately one of the best players in the game this season and the reason Pitt won the ACC this year.

Are ACC people - fans, schools, media - going to be really annoying about this?
Definitely.
Do they have a right to do so after all the nonsense that was said about the league in February?
Also, definitely.
Louisville coach Kenny Payne:
"Guys, I’m just here to tell you that, probably the most complete, the toughest team that we’ve faced in this conference is Pittsburgh."
"Oh brother!" after Jorge feeds Guillermo for a dunk and then "It's getting hot in here" after a Nelly Cummings drive.
Ian Eagle is hitting home runs right now.
Damar Hamlin on upsetting a top-15 team at Heinz Field: "It’s special. Just having a big role and a big win like this, it’s something I’ll never forget. These type of wins are why I stayed home and played for Pitt, you know? For the special moments like this."
I think most Pitt fans get this, but there's a fringe that seems to need to hear it:
Regardless of what happens from here - win out or lose out or anything in between - this season has been an unmitigated success for Pitt basketball.
Here's my thinking:
I don't need sourced reporting on Damar Hamlin's condition. Don't need it. Don't want it. The only thing I want to see is an official statement from the Bills or Damar's family. I hope it comes soon, but that's all I really care about.
USC: silent, moving to B10
UCLA: silent, moving to B10
Oregon: silent, moving to B10
Washington: silent, moving to B10
Arizona: silent, moving to B12
Colorado: silent, moving to B12
ASU: silent, moving to B12
Utah: silent, moving to B12
FSU: yap yap yap yap yap, still in ACC
Pitt beats UNC, who was No. 33 in the NET rankings, on the road and moves up 1 spot to No. 61.
The Panthers have wins over Virginia (No. 14), Miami (No. 39), NC State (No. 40) and two wins over UNC (No. 37).
"I'm a dumbass, Jerry."
Pat Narduzzi's response to being asked by
@JDiPaola_Trib
about trying to pass with 21 seconds left at the end of the second quarter.

coach Jeff Capel: "We’re a young backcourt, we’re an inexperienced backcourt, but I’ll tell you what: I wouldn’t trade them for anyone, those two guys. Our guys compete, they fight, they battle and they’re going to get better and better."
After Pitt lost the ACC championship game in 2018, Pat Narduzzi’s daughter wrote “We will be back” on a whiteboard in the locker room at Bank of America Stadium. She reminded him of that this week
When the Jordan Addison news first came out a few weeks ago, it was USC. And today, it's still USC. Whatever happened in between, it was USC. It was USC before he went into the portal and it's USC now.
Would Saturday work better for everyone's schedules?
Yes, of course it would.
But Thursday night on national TV to open the CFB season against a hated rival with the roster that's coming back from an ACC championship team?
I think people can make it work.
I understand not putting Pitt in a preseason top 10 - they lost a Heisman Trophy finalist at QB - but the Panthers return 17 starters from an 11-win P5 championship team & added a top transfer QB. Seems like that should at least merit a spot in the top 25.
Sage wisdom from Jorge Diaz Graham:
"I always say the assists are more fun, because a bucket makes happy one person, but an assist makes happy two persons."

At the 2022 Peach Bowl Challenge Charity Golf Tournament over the weekend, Pat Narduzzi sat down for an interview. His quotes here about Kedon Slovis seem...pointed.
Sitting in a hotel room in Newark, and I honestly don’t know what to say.
I really don’t. I don’t want to jump to conclusions or make grand sweeping declarations about the State of College Football, but…man
From what I've been told, the team-wide NIL deal
@Alliance_412
secured for the
@Pitt_FB
team is seven figures annually, with every scholarship player receiving five figures. It's a significant move, for sure.
I can’t do nothing but give glory to my lord and savior🙏🏿.

Pitt QB Nick Patti:
"When I got here, it was all the Penn State rivalry because they were playing. Then we finished that and I said, ‘What’s up with this West Virginia rivalry?’ And they said, ‘It’s worse.’"
A quote from Pitt WR Jared Wayne for your Sunday: "We had a successful year last year, but good isn’t good enough, so we’re going for it all this year. That’s all I can say about that."

coach Pat Narduzzi: "I want guys that love Pittsburgh, okay, and that's what it comes down to. You either love Pittsburgh and you want to stay here and play for your city or you don't. And if you don't, I'm good. We wouldn't win with you anyway. It's beautiful."
Whatever else happens, it’s pretty cool that, the day after Kenny Pickett got drafted in the first round by the Steelers, Pitt got a commitment from a QB named Kenny.
And listen, that $20 million donation doesn't happen without
@pittbostick
. You can talk about 13-9 and good color commentary and all that, but Pat Bostick leads Pitt's major gifts initiatives, and he was key to this. He deserves some recognition.
