I'm not sure I get all the characterization questions I see on writingtwt. People will be like, "Does your main character prefer showers or baths?" That COULD be relevant to a story, but in most books it literally wouldn't matter.

Trying to give away some extra vegetables from the garden has been very interesting. People just refusing an onion or a pepper because they (and their entire family?) cannot imagine having any use for an onion or a pepper.

I often wonder if publishing's goal is to confuse the average person. No one knows what a chapter book is. They think it's any book with chapters. They think middle grade is for middle schoolers. They think young adult is for readers in their 20s. Can't we pick better names?.

It's also another conversation where everyone on Twitter comes out and claims they were reading Tolstoy at the age of two. 🤣.

Another discussion completely confused because some people think "chapter books" means the publishing category of short books like Junie B. Jones and some people think it means long novels with chapters like Percy Jackson.

Started reading a book I thought I hadn't read before only to realize several chapters in that apparently I have. 🤦‍♀️.

Very confused about the "everything is a trope" takes. People will say, "Fairies living in a volcano is a trope," as if we've all read fifty books about volcano fairies.
