My wife just looked at me and asked if I would be getting a haircut soon and I was forced to admit to her that I am too scared to get a haircut because if I do and the Padres lose it will be my fault.
Anyone else have some stupid superstition going on right now?
Compare the reactions to the departures of Eric Hosmer and Wil Myers. It has almost nothing to do with actual performance and everything to do with how the player interacted with the fanbase.
The Padres might not win the World Series in 2022... Or in 2023... Or in 2024... Or ever.
But for the next 3 years we will get to watch a trio of future hall of famers batting in order and root for a hometown hero on the mound.
I am so happy.
This is the image I will always remember when I think of Peter Seidler. He was a proud Dad who, probably knowing that his time on earth was shorter than most, sought to enjoy life with his family.
Manny Machado leads the National League with 7.3 fWAR.
The last time a Padre finished the season at the top of the fWAR leaderboard was... 2021, Fernando Tatis Jr with 7.3.
Y'all aren't giving Preller nearly enough credit. The dude not only built the Padres into a postseason team, he also was able to build the Mariners and Guardians into postseason teams as well this year.
The Padres are .500.
Tatis Jr and Paddack have exceeded expectations.
Hosmer is playing up to odd year standards.
Renfroe is second in baseball in dingers.
Yates is the best closer in baseball.
And the Padres now boast John Cena as their celebrity fan.
#DreamSeason
The Padres have played a winning team 66% of the time (49 out of 74)
The dodgers have played a winning team 54% of the time (39 out of 71)
The giants have played a winning team 44% of the time (32 out of 72)
It's difficult to describe the emotions I have seeing players like Yu Darvish, Manny Machado, Fernando Tatis Jr all playing for the team I have spent my entire life cheering for. This happiness is just so foreign and yet so welcome.
I think Max Scherzer is going to be the starting pitcher for next Saturday's Padres game. That also happens to be Tatis bobblehead night.
It's going to be insane.
Padres last winning season was 2010. They drew 2,131,774 fans in attendance that year.
They've exceeded that attendance 8 of the next 9 seasons despite never winning more than 77 games.
The
#FriarFaithful
are the most loyal fanbase is baseball.
My daughter watching Randy Arozarena just said, "He's a good outfielder, when's he a free agent?"
This is what happens to children who grow up under the Seidler/Preller era of Padres baseball.
One of the best things to ever happen to Padres fans was when Matty V got too big time for us and yet somehow we ended up getting a far better broadcaster.
The thing about
@RyanCohen24
is that he's just a great dude whose love for the Padres + a little bit of social media luck has brought him incredible *blessings*. He knows it, he's humble and he just keeps being a good dude.
So happy for Ryan.

@Mudcat55
I just showed my daughter the replay of Manny's home runs from after she went to bed last night. She looked up at me, smiled and said, "does this mean we can go to Jack in the Box for dinner?"
23 Padres related things I'm excited for in 2023.
1. The return of
#23
!
2. A full season of Juan Soto!
3. A full season of Blake Snell, pitching in his walk year!
4. A 4 shortstop infield!
5. A full season of Josh Hader!
6. A second season of Bob Melvin.
Ok

I'm giving away this DHGate Machado road jersey (size large) to one of you. To enter, simply retweet this tweet. I will randomly select a winner on Tuesday, March 3rd. Good luck!
Tatis becomes eligible on April 20th, so the Padres first "home" game where Tatis can play is actually on April 29th... In Mexico City.
First time in Petco Park should be Monday, May 1st vs the Reds.
Padres are sold out online of all the jerseys other than the largest size.
The team store sold out of all the road unis on Saturday night.
And these are the authentics. When the replicas come available it's going to be bonkers.
45 days until Christmas!!

Oh this is beautiful. Dean Spanos's team tried to steal the
@Padres
bit and failed so miserably that the players are calling for people to be fired.
🗑️🔥. 🤣
I've watched a whole bunch of these WBC games and honestly, team USA is the *only* team who appears to approach it like it's just an exhibition game. Every other team truly seems to be playing for a different level of pride.
The
@DSmithShow
interview of
@dennistlin
right now is really really really good. So many things I had no idea about.
Darvish family wants to live in SD. Snell and Seidler are very close. Padres really are in on one of the remaining huge offensive players. Senga is unlikely
I'm not sure we have properly acknowledged how significant it is that the Darvish family has elected to stay in SD this winter rather than in FL where Yu's son is in school, or in AZ where they have spent previous off-seasons, or in Japan.
Padres in the top 100 prospects of 2018
8 Tatis
11 Mejia
19 Gore
36 Urias
40 Quantrill
42 Baez
50 Morejon
89 Espinoza
I've been a prospect hugger in the past, and I never want to go back to that world.
"I've ran out of patience some time ago."
Ron says about Hedges and Myers.
"We're probably going to have to eat 10 million or more." He says about Myers.

I told my Daughter that Manny made the All Star game and that means 5 Padres are going.
”Which five?” she asked. I began to list our super stars, "Manny, Fernando, Jake, Yu and..."
Before I could finish she interjected, "It has to be Daniel, right?"
Padres upcoming schedule-
3 against the first place Twins
5 against the unbeatable Rockies
3 against the frickin dodgers
3 against the frickin giants
By August 11th this team could be eliminated if they don't do something huge to change the momentum
The Padres have invested 340 million dollars in Tatis. The most sensible thing to do is whatever will help him heal fully. If that means missing all of this season, so be it. Still have 13 more years.
The
@Padres
out here giving away free booze on a Friday night. Don't tell me this isn't the greatest ownership group in sports history.
Thank you, Uncle Ron.
Things I am very bullish on for the Padres season:
1. That Pen is elite.
2. Tingler's ability to get the most out of Profar, Hosmer, Mejia, etc.
3. Machado and Pham looking uber motivated.
4. Tatis going to the next level.
5. Lamet, Richards and Paddack competing for staff ace.
The
@Padres
are averaging over 37,000 fans per game. The fans have done their part.
@PedroPadre77
has done a great job of investing in a team. But now is the time to go all-in and get these investments to pay off.
.
@MLB
has screwed everything up every possible way but they can do 2 things super easy to earn a ton of good will:
1) Make
@MLBTV
free this year
2) Drop the blackout restrictions
I'm thankful that
#BrownIsBack
.
I'm thankful that
@PetcoPark
is the best ballpark in the country.
I'm thankful that Manny Machado is a San Diego Padre.
I'm thankful that
#PadresTwitter
is fun every single day.
I'm thankful that one day the
@Padres
will win the World Series.
