This court interdict over the arbitrary conversion of communal land came as welcome news to PYCD and the community that have long battled an impending loss of ancestral land, livelihoods and cultural identity. The interdict upheld the principles of administrative justice.

Therefore, the Chipinge RDC is barred from acting arbitrarily without the necessary consent from the community. The local authority has been found in breach of the FPIC principles. Consultation between the RDC and the community must be encouraged and promoted for social cohesion

Chipinge RDC has been interdicted by the High Court from urbanizing Kondo Communal land without following due process. 266 households had received eviction orders in which a situation that was a clear violation by the RDC of the common people rights to land.

Some of the highlights of challenges being experienced by learners in schools are drug abuse, absenteeism, bullying, early child marriages, unwanted and unsafe termination of pregnancies.

@PYDT1 Gender Office Quarterly Review Meeting at the PYCD Centre was well subscribed. It was a meeting attended by all the 25 Gender Activists from the various wards in Chipinge together with their 10 aunts and 5 uncles.

PYCD Gender and Advocacy Officer confirmed that her organisation has contributed to a notable increase in the participation of women in matters of land governance in response to climate change. This was presented during conversations with visitors from ZELA at the PYCD Centre

The Research, Livelihood and Governance Officer Mr Allan Murozvi reported during engagement with ZELA, that PYCD was pivotal in the etablishment of the Mutema and Chibuwe CAMPFIRE and was keen to see it being implemented holistically.
