Today, I hosted a delegation from the Coalition of Youth For Devolution. The team shared with me insights on their flagship initiative, the Youth Devolution Festival.

The Inaugural Festival was held at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology in November 2024, convening 859 youth from 38 counties. The 2nd Edition will bring together 1200 delegates from 47 counties and will be held in Kajiado County from 1st to 3rd of October 2025

Under the theme, "Harnessing Devolution through Youth Empowerment, Innovation and Job Creation for Economic Growth." The delegation comprised of Mr. Odari Murabwa, the Head of Secretariat for the Youth Devolution Festival and Mr. Dion Wandera, the Research Lead .

I held a very productive meeting today with H.E. the Ambassador of Italy, Dr. Roberto Natali at the Embassy of Italy in Gigiri. We explored areas of collaboration under the Friendship Italia–Kenya Programme and the progress on the proposed cooperation frameworks.

I expressed Kenya’s interest in participating in Italy’s mobility frameworks, emphasizing the importance of expanding structured labour mobility pathways, empowering Kenyan youth through skills exchange, and reinforcing institutional partnerships between Kenya and Italy.

I took the opportunity to thank the Embassy for their continued engagement and reaffirmed our commitment to enhancing deeper cooperation in promoting safe, regular, and mutually beneficial labour migration.

I chaired a very critical meeting today that brought together all heads of departments from the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection. It was strategically purposed to review the Ministry's Performance for the FY 2023/24 PC cycle.

The meeting offered a platform to review Ministerial achievements, evaluate targets, and highlight areas for improvement aligning with National development targets in line with the Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

Among the recommendations from the meeting were the need to strengthen departmental and ministerial committees, hold quarterly meetings to review and monitor progress, and ensuring timely compilation and submission of performance.

Was pleased to meet the officials from Kenya Airways, who paid me a courtesy call today. We discussed areas of collaboration between the airline and the government, among them how #KQ can strategically position itself as the preferred mode of flight for government officers.

.@LabourSPKE and Kenya Airways agreed to come up with a contractual agreement aimed at improving efficiency in the provision of air travel services to the department.

Today, I had the pleasure of visiting Rock Junior Academy in Githurai 45, Kiambu. I commend their dedication to supporting the less fortunate and creating employment for over 22 staff members. Their commitment to education and community development is truly inspiring!

Rock Junior Academy, founded in 2008 and now serving 320 students, is seeking support to expand its facilities and establish a technical training center. I encourage stakeholders to join us in empowering this growing institution and its students. #EducationForAll

Today, I joined colleague PS @fikirini_jacobs and PS @SusanAMangeni in a high-level inter-agency meeting to finalize preparations for the official launch of #NyotaProject tentatively scheduled for August 12 this year. #YouthEmpowerment

The National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement Project( NYOTA) is a flagship government initiative targeting over 820,000 vulnerable and unemployed youth, including persons with disabilities. #YouthEmpowerment.

It focuses on enhancing skills training, job placements, income generation, and financial empowerment among young people aged 18-29 years across the country.

We have a challenge as public servants to go beyond the annual routine of signing PCs and initiate change that effectively addresses real problems affecting wananchi. We can solve our problem by translating the targets we have signed into actions that improve services.

With my colleague PS for Social Protection and Senior Citizen Affairs, Joseph Motari,we are committed to ensuring that all the targets we have signed for are implemented fully and appreciate PS State Department for National Coordination Ahmed Abdisalaam for leading the team.
