“We feel like we are in prison at the hotel - everything is prohibited”. As well as the issues of poverty, health, and education detailed in earlier blogs, the residents also talked about the restrictive nature of their life in hotels. https://t.co/OLpAb19o9L

In October 2022, members of the #KindEconomy living in asylum hotel accommodation compiled evidence of human rights failings they experienced. The sixth part in a blog series looking at this evidence, focuses on the ways in which living in these hotels impacted on their dignity.

For the families making complaints to private landlords, most of them reported issues with mould and damp. Whether living in a social or privately rented home, no family deserves to live in a home that destroys their health like this. #mouldanddampactionawarenessweek

Between January 2024 and April 2025, #TakeBacktheCity activists worked on housing complaints for 98 families, living in social housing and private rentals. 1/3 of the families living in @nihecommunity homes reported physical issues with their homes such as mould and damp.
