These diverging plates will also result in the Atlantic Ocean growing in width, separating the Americas from Europe and Africa. This is happening at a very slow rate, of 1 to 10 centimeters per year.

Did you know that we used to think Dorothy the elasmosaurus’ head was on her tail? 😅 That was in fact the trigger of the BONE WARS! 🦴 Fun fact: Dorothy is named after the Wizard of Oz Dorothy because they both come from Kansas!
