Today we celebrate what would have been Neil Armstrong’s 95th b-day. On July 20, 1969, he became the 1st person to walk on the Moon, famously saying, “That’s one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind.” His legacy lives on as NASA prepares to return to the Moon. 📸NASA

☀️☄️ A UH-run telescope just discovered the 3rd known interstellar object to visit our solar system! Dubbed 3I/ATLAS, this cosmic backpacker may be a comet w/ a 12-mile diameter. It's now blazing through our neighborhood toward the Sun at more than 150K mph. 📸 NASA/JPL-Caltech

Did you know you're wearing space tech on your face? 🕶️ The scratch-resistant coating on your sunglasses was first created by NASA in the late 60s for astronaut helmet visors. Now it's the gold standard for eyewear as well as mobile device screens. #everydayspacetech 📸 NASA/ESA

Just. Wow. As we went over Mexico and the U.S. this morning, I caught this sprite. Sprites are TLEs or Transient Luminous Events, that happen above the clouds and are triggered by intense electrical activity in the thunderstorms below. We have a great view above the clouds, so

Our interns are busy mixing geopolymer concrete this week. Raiyan and Za-Ting have been studying geopolymers and are now creating their own using Hawaiian basalt. They'll test the durability of their concoctions once they are fully cured. We're excited to see the results! 🔬✨💪
