My research lab at @GreenKeeperApp and phone's photo gallery clearly show the active research we've got going this summer. More wetting agent modeling (WDPT!!!), sensor testing and implementation, and improved irrigation scheduling models.

It’s been a few days of heat and humidity, and the etiolation starts. Now, only if we had a way to control it.

That off-colored strip in the data? It happened while transporting over unmowed turf. Mounting an active sensor behind the mower improves consistency—same leaf orientation, no dew, uniform height, and its own light source for repeatable, day-to-day results.

The @GreenKeeperApp Turf Vision System is not just for golf. It can be mounted to sports turf mowers to gain valuable insight. The rX sensor shares nitrogen status and leaf biomass data with the autonomous aX datalogger. Collect data while you mow with GreenKeeper.

I'm getting ready for etiolation emails/DMs to come with the current Nebraska weather. High humidity with warm nights, clouds, and frequent light rain offer a perfect environment. The rapid growth rate is ugly and weakens the turf against pests and stress later this summer.

A shoutout to all the Nebraska and surrounding cool-season grass growers trying to do the impossible this week. Heavy rains and high temps later this week aren't helping matters.

Experiment with different runtimes/depths. Figure out what is required to avoid wilt tomorrow afternoon. It looks like 16 minutes (0.22") tonight will do the trick. We'll likely need some light water tomorrow night, too. Rain (blue shaded area) should help for Tuesday.

Switch to the Hourly view to see when wilt is expected. This morning in Lincoln, the greens averaged 19% VWC. Based on the hourly forecast ET and GK Insight site-specific optimization, wilt is expected to occur tomorrow afternoon. Let's schedule tonights irrigation runtime.

Use a TDR or embedded soil probe to find the morning average soil moisture. Enter the reading into GreenKeeper. Fifteen measurements from a representative green are usually sufficient.

As a summer heat dome builds across the US, here's how the @GreenKeeperApp's Water Resource Planner can help you schedule irrigation during the exceptionally high ET. First, review the forecast ET in the daily water view. Over 0.4+ ET of water loss is expected in Lincoln.

We are excited to be working with @jim_pav and the Cornell Turf Team to bring our @GreenKeepwrApp Turf Vision System to Fairview CC. We're looking forward to measuring plant health and stress with each mower. Our first production run of sensors ships to customers next week.

The 0.5" of rain yesterday in Lincoln was welcome ahead of this weekend's ET forecast. Hot, sunny, dry and windy conditions are expected to drive crop adjusted ET over 0.4" per day for cool-season turf! @GreenKeeperApp

Exactly. The technologies complement each other. Vegetative data from mower or drone-mounted sensors help to differentiate stress. It contextualizes soil moisture measurements. Is the turf wilting? Yes! What is the soil moisture showing?. Add TurfRad data to @GreenKeeperApp CIS?.

📢 Important to know the difference. Yes the maps look similar but they are showing different data. Both are great tools. #turfRadlife.

The line of PGR over-regulation is becoming noticeable. Growth rate tends to slow during early June across the northern US before summer N mineralization kicks in full effect. Be careful with aggressive cultivation, redirect traffic, and avoid high DMI rates during this time.

It’s June, and signs of collar decline start showing up across the northern U.S. Spring apps of DMIs & PGRs can stack together and cause over-regulation. If collar decline is a recurring issue, consider these strategies:.1️⃣ Lower the collar mowing height.2️⃣ Spoon-feed nitrogen
