The University consistently cosies up to arms and tech companies whose products are used in Israeli war crimes. As staff, our job is to say NO!. Sign below! 👇.

At this University, there is low pay and casualisation from the kitchens and cafes to the classrooms!.

My exclusive for Observer today: For 1st time FOI data from Oxford colleges shows majority of tutorials taught by early career academics struggling to manage on low pay & ‘Deliveroo-style’ contracts. FT profs only taught a third of tutorials last year.

In a mirror image, it accumulates huge wealth, invested in neocolonial violence against exploited peoples in Palestine and elsewhere.

While this pay review is positive news for many of us, the University continues to make life hardest for the most casualised — often black and brown people, and precarious migrants.

4. Long-Serving Workers. The bottom pay levels for low pay grades (1-3) have been abolished. That means that many workers who had graduated up pay levels due to long service will now be on the same level as a new worker, relatively negating their previous pay rises.

3. College workers.Because of the atomisation of the University, workers at colleges are not directly employed by the University. So this pay increase doesn't affect them, even the lowest paid. Colleges often pay below the Oxford Living Wage, and don't recognise trade unions.

2. Lowest Paid Workers. For the lowest paid, this increase barely makes a dent compared to the already decided increase in the Oxford Living Wage. Meanwhile, the top pay grades have been topped up more than the rest!

1. Outsourced workers.Despite claiming to be an Oxford Living Wage employer, the University outsources a huge number of workers, especially cleaners and caterers, who are often paid less than the OLW. (Not enough to pay living costs in the city.) This pay rise won't affect them!

Payday has come and gone!.In its infinite generosity, the University's pay and conditions review has meant a pay increase for some workers. But who loses out?

A reminder the University of Oxford and its colleges own many 10,000s acres of land and over £billion in property alone.

Rough sleepers have a rare shelter from the rain on Little Clarendon Street. Yet the University continues to play its historic role of creating huge inequality in the city, then evicting the people at the sharp end of it!
