It consists of the first 6 or 8 digits of the card number. Using the IIN, you can determine:.-The name of the bank.-The country of issue.-The card’s funding type.-The card network (Visa, MasterCard, etc.).-The card category (personal or commercial).-The card level(Gold, Platinum).

However, what is quick and easy to find is the issuing country and bank behind the card. To do that, we need the Issuer Identification Number (IIN), also known as the Bank Identification Number (BIN)—a numeric code defined by ISO 7812.
