@911Gene @cspan Side note... Capt. Besterman's words on p. 275 about getting a mission on the 12th can be misleading so let me clarify. Soldiers from the Old Guard began deploying to the Pentagon on the 11th and I was part of that effort. Co. orders may have come down later. I came on 9/11.

My Army Commendation Medal, awarded in 2005 for "meritorious achievement while serving in the Old Guard." Please make note of Achievement #1 on picture two and forgive the leadership chain for misspelling my last name. 😉

My U.S. Army Military District of Washington Certificate of Achievement for "exceptionally meritorious support of Operation Noble Eagle." The discoloration on the document is due to its contact with water when my house flooded in 2003 during Hurricane Isabel.
