The Bubi word for cow (pókkó) may originate from the proto-Bantu word for buffalo (mbògó)

Most lamellophones seem to musically function as xylophone substitutes. I wonder if they were first created during the West African Iron Age to serve as a portable xylophone alternative.

Light green is Niger-Congo, dark purple is central Sudanic, blue is Nilotic. Kenyan Nilotes don’t have the central sudanic shit which suggests to me that the admix event is recent since more southern Nilotes (and the Bantus that mixed with them) lack it

Just glanced through this study and I found something VERY interesting. The ADMIXTURE model here cleanly separates Central Sudanic and Nilotic components. All 🇸🇸Nilotes have low levels of central sudanic and Niger-Congo admixture

@Original_Libbro @AfricansDNA Today i've found back in the Supplemtary Data of this study an admixture model featuring Ubangians and aligning well with this too. Dozens of Central Sudanics, Chadics and Saharans were also modeled.

Looks like I have my answer. It looks like Bubis were at least targeted for slave raids

In a study of Bubi individuals, 30% of the men were found with the rare haplogroup E-Z5975. This haplogroup is quite rare and, outside of 🇬🇶, is only found in African-🇺🇸 and 🇵🇷. Maybe this haplogroup is particular to Bioko? Were Bubis traded in the TAST?

In Basa Komo the word for iron is "oshambule". A word that is strikingly similar to the hambure/hambuli root found in Oshiwambo and Otjiherero. Perhaps these words stem from a common ironworking culture early/proto-Bantus and ancient West Africans had in common?

The Herero word for blacksmith is "otjihambure", the Ovambo word is "omuhambuli". The root here is "hambure"/"hambuli". What SHOCKED me was that I could find a clear connection to a word in the central Nigerian Basa Komo language

I was able to find some cognates to this word in non-Bantu Bantoid languages of West Africa and Cameroon.

The first word I will focus on is the word for iron in Oshiwambo and Otjiherero. In Ovambo it is "oshitenda" and in Herero it is "otjitenda". The root here being "-tenda". I wasn't able to find a cognate to this word in other Bantus language BUT.
