Press Release #8 COUNTY OF ORANGE BEACHES IN LAGUNA BEACH REOPENED FOLLOWING OIL SPILL CLOSURE

#OilSpill update: County beaches in #DanaPoint now open, effective 1:30 p.m. today. Locations & other details at

County-operated beaches in the City of Dana Point are closed – Salt Creek Beach and Strands Beach. Capistrano Beach and Poche Beach remain closed due to construction.

Boats will not be allowed to enter or exit Dana Point Harbor at this time until further notice. Impacted boaters are requested to go to Huntington Beach Harbour or Long Beach Harbor. At this time there is no date or time as to re-opening Dana Point Harbor.

The County of Orange in coordination with Unified Command announces the closure of Dana Point Harbor effective 9:00 p.m. October 4 due to the oil spill. In addition, OC Parks is announcing the water closure of Baby Beach located within Dana Point Harbor.

All city beaches in Laguna Beach are closed. This includes beaches operated by the County of Orange – Aliso Beach, Laguna Royale, Tablerock Beach, Thousand Steps Beach and West Street Beach. Visitors are advised to avoid contact with ocean water and oiled areas of the beach.

Bayside Park, located in Newport Harbor, is also closed. At this time, there is no date or time as to re-opening Newport Beach Harbor.

The County of Orange, in coordination with Unified Command announced the closure of Newport Beach Harbor today at 11 A.M. due to the oil spill. Boats will not be able to enter or exit the harbor. Impacted vessels are requested to go to Huntington Beach or Long Beach Harbors.
