@Garner_images As the tweet says, this is from the Roman Republic, a hundred years before the first emperor. Almost all magistrates of the Republic were elected officials, voted into power by Roman citizens. New legislation was also regularly put to the popular vote.

@OptimoPrincipi The Romans believed in lots of things. Voting was important. They had a history of leadership changes from other methods.

@OptimoPrincipi @bo66ie29 And I’m sure they got the results a lot quicker than this mess we have now especially in Democrat run states. Why are you waiting until election night to start opening mail in ballots is beyond me. Unless there’s something nefarious planned probably in some cases.
