The effort, thoughtfulness, and energy that artists bring to SXSW never ceases to amaze me and is an inspiration that powers me through each year. Here’s to SXSW 2025 being the best music festival in the world again. Time to get to work.

I want to give space for SXSW to find its footing and become again what it was not even a decade ago, but if course doesn’t change, I’m out. That said, looking forward to sharing words and pics of some amazing artists I saw this week. It was a joy!.

At a South Hills Experiment show, it was put best this week: “SXSW - this is your last chance.”. I think that’s 100% correct. If you don’t want to be a music festival and want to explore military tech, then say so and let someone else give it a shot.

Not for weapons manufacturers and the us army, seriously? Imagine you heard Bonnaroo was sponsored by the army, it’s ridiculous in the context of a music festival.

I hope next year is an overhaul that finds that magic again, but a reset is in order. This was a festival for the bands, for writers, for fanatics, for industry, and for people walking down the street and ducking into a bar since it sounds that damn good.

I love SXSW more than anyone, but at least for music, it felt like this year succeeded in spite of SXSW, not because of it.

I had such a fun week seeing great bands, but this year felt like the end of something at SXSW. Maybe I’m wrong, but it feels like if this doesn’t shift more to an artist-centric model and sponsorship that make a semblance of sense, this year was a wake and not a celebration.

Last day of SXSW and thunderstorms on the agenda, any indoor recs or we just keeping our fingers crossed? Was eyeing Empire, Cheer Ups, and UK Embassy all outdoors today….
