Poonam Vinayamohan showed that biocides could exacerbate the horizontal gene transfer of antimicrobial resistance genes. Definitely the first time anyone in the @OneHerdLab has used transmission electron microscopy!

Nearly 100% of livestock market environmental samples were positive for #Salmonella! Samantha Locke used whole genome sequencing to show spread of strains between markets from different states. Good collaborative effort with the Ohio and Wisconsin Departments of Agriculture.

Rafael Portillo-Gonzalez detailed an impressive amount of variation in quantified #antimicrobial use on large #dairy farms in Ohio and California. Clear opportunities to improve judicious use.

If you’re visiting #CRWAD without going to Blue Chicago, then you’re not doing it right. Our team is better at science than than dancing, but we don’t care.

#CRWAD was an excellent conference as usual. Good people, good science, good food, and inspiration for new projects. Our team had six oral presentations covering critical knowledge gaps in #antimicrobialstewardship and preharvest food safety.

I don't think I've fully processed how AI tools are going to change everything. I asked #ChatGPT to answer a question from the 2021 #ACVPM #Epidemiology exam. I think it'd pass :|

The FDA has updated #antimicrobial use sales estimates in the U.S. to adjust for biomass. The adjusted estimates for cattle are substantially lower than previously unadjusted estimates.

The artwork of super talented @OSUVetCollege veterinary radiologist and my better half Amy Habing landed on the cover of @AVMAJAVMA. An alternative route to academic publishing! I'm lucky to have the original on my office wall.

Maybe twitter is dying, but in the meantime, I'll keep posting our new manuscripts. What attitudes do #dairy producers have about providing care for surplus #calves? A strong qualitative effort led by Kate Creutzinger.

New project! With funding from @FDAanimalhealth, we're happy to be collaborating with Pam Ruegg (@topmilk) to improve #antimicrobialstewardship on #dairy farms with a combination of benchmarking and training.
