How will these tactics play into each other?. Legia’s compact block and counter threat may blunt Hibs’ central play, but Hibs’ energy and width can exploit advanced full-backs. Both risk defensive gaps if transitions are not controlled.

How do Legia play?. Legia are expected to line up in a structured 4-2-3-1 prioritising compact defence and disciplined spacing. They’ll seek to frustrate through a mid-block, then strike with fast vertical transitions and overlapping fullbacks, while relying on set-piece strength.

How do Hibs play?. Hibs are expected to set up in a compact 5-3-2 and 3-4–1-1 hybrid, focusing on central control and quick transitional breaks. They’ll look to combine energy in midfield with direct forward movement, but may leave gaps defensively if full-backs advance too high.

So although Legia are the slight favourites on paper, it’s not completely out of the realm of possibility for Hibs to win tomorrow, especially as Legia lost 1-0 to newly promoted Ekstraklasa side Wisła Płock in the league on Sunday.

Although he is only 20 years old, Ziółkowski has already drawn comparisons to some of Europe’s elite, such as (and sorry if it’s too soon #AFCB fans) Dean Huijsen. Terrific ball playing ability mixed with imperious defending sums these two up to a tee.

2. Legia’s Youth. Moving onto the other side now, Legia Warsaw have some to watch of their own…. 6’ 4” centre back Jan Ziółkowski born and bred in Warsaw, Poland has already been subject of intense interest, namely from Serie A side, AS Roma, as reported by @FabrizioRomano

Another promising Hibs youngster is academy graduate Rudi Allan Molotnikov. The Scottish 19 year old attacking midfielder is fresh off the back of an injury so it’s unlikely he’ll play which is why I won’t go too into depth for him.

The only drawback to Mulligan is his final pass, but that comes with age and experience, and is something that Mulligan can only improve upon. Having said that, his play in the final third is said to be exceptional and has plenty of quality.

The 22 year old Scotsman has insane stamina, playing the full 90 against FC Midtjylland and the very next week, playing the full 120 in the 2nd leg. His defensive work is exceptional and he can progress the ball very well, a dream for any team.
