The image used in this article is of Luca Kumahara, a 3-time Olympian who has won multiple table tennis competitions. Of course, what isn't stated is that Luca is a trans man, who will rightly be able to continue playing his sport in the men's category under these new rules.

The experience of being a trans woman in the UK is waking up each day to see which sport (or service/org) you've been newly banned from. We're so deep into a trans panic in this country that it doesn't seem to matter whether these bans are backed by any evidence (they are not).

The "compromise" is that trans women are now banned from attending anything that isn't a fringe event at the Labour Women's Conference. This is nothing besides complete capitulation to transphobes & bigots. A government of cowards & a party of needless, performative cruelty.

Update: the motion proposed by Reform, which sought to ban trans women from women's spaces, was ruled out of order because the councillor who had seconded the motion could not be bothered to show up to the meeting...

The current leadership of Your Party has been irreconcilably captured by transphobes, at this point. A chair silencing a trans member in this way is completely embarrassing for a party that claims to put equality at the heart of its (yet undecided) policies.

Gender dysphoria has a well recognised treatement pathway which has 110+ years of medical science behind it. Gender critics advocate for child suffering and cruelty by denying this pathway to innocent trans children for the sake of their own personal beliefs.

Insisting that you're not transphobic before going on to make a bunch of deeply & violently transphobic statements is an interesting tactic. Just because ChatGPT says you're not a bigot, doesn't make it so.
