We have had a great first day so far in Seahouses and the sun has been shining. Lunch on the beach was followed by a walk to Bamburgh Castle. We were all very excited to see dolphins playing in the waves as we walked along the beach!
Our busy day began with a visit to the lifeboat station to present our cheque for the money raised at the Y5 enterprise. We then did activities in Seahouses including sketching,IPad art and visitor surveys. After lunch was our Farne Island boat trip, shopping and ice cream!
Another sunny day here in Seahouses! First stop this morning was Lindisfarne where we looked around the priory and castle. After lunch, it was on to the Grace Darling Museum. We are now ready for our tea and looking forward to swimming tonight!
Unfortunately due to rough seas our boat trip to the Farne Islands was cancelled. However the weather did not dampen our spirits and we have had a fun-filled day! First up was a visit to the RNLI lifeboat station to hand over our donation of the money raised at the Enterprise...
With the weather an improvement on yesterday, we have enjoyed a visit to the Grace Darling Museum and Saint Aidans church, followed by lunch at Bamburgh, and then on to Lindisfarne for a tour round the priory and castle.
As part of our 'Look After Me Week' members of year 5 enjoyed helping PCSOs Bunney and Mance to carry out speed checks outside school. Drivers were rewarded with a 'thumbs up' for safe speeds.
Year 5 have counted every penny spent at the Enterprise Fair. A total of just under £800 was taken, creating a profit of almost £500! We will be able to make a fantastic donation to the RNLI. Well done year 5 and a big thank you to everyone who spent money at the fair.
There's been a murder! This morning class 12 arrived to find a murder scene in the classroom. In literacy we examined the evidence, to try to discover what might have happened. We were all relieved to find out that the crime scene was set up to help us learn about Macbeth.
Just a reminder about the Victorian Experience tomorrow. Tours available 9.15 to 11.30am and 1.15 to 2.30pm. We are all set up and ready to go in the morning.
Year 5 had a really enjoyable visit to Cromwell Bottom yesterday, where we took part in pond dipping, bug hunting and bird spotting. We all loved spotting lots of tiny frogs and trying to catch newts!
Well done to all the year 5 children who delivered a confident performance at our Tudor Experience. You did an amazing job and were able to share your knowledge with all our visitors in a very interesting and enjoyable way.
Digital leader interviews have taken place today. Out of nearly 50 applicants, these 16 were shortlisted for interview. We have had a hard job deciding the final ten. Letters will be sent home today for the chosen 10 Digital leaders.

Look after me week is in full swing! So far this week, year 5 have enjoyed sessions focusing on fitness, the importance of sleep, reducing sugar in our diets and E-Safety.
Well done to Class 11's top three home readers for this half term. Over the last eight weeks, Layla-Jo, Tillie and Evie have read 33, 35 and 37 times at home! All three girls have received a prize to reward their super effort.
A fantastic afternoon at our Year 5 Enterprise. Lots of money made and impressive sales techniques on show. A huge well done to all groups as every single one of them sold out.
Year 5 are enjoying another session with U Can Shine this morning. Firstly, we worked on determination and resilience by doing some circuit training outside. We are now discussing how we can improve our personal happiness.
European artist no.3- Seurat. Continuing with our work related to different European artists, yesterday we took our inspiration from Seurat, the 'dotty man'.
Our first introduction to this half term’s music. Adele - Make you feel my love. We will be learning much more about the pulse and rhythm and using glockenspiels to play it.
Thank you for coming to our Seahouses assembly this morning. The children did a fantastic job remembering all their lines and they delivered them clearly and confidently. Well done!
Class 12 spent the morning planting trees near Norland with Treesponsibility. It started off well but the weather gradually deteriorated. However the Treesponsibility team were impressed by our hard work and resilience and we managed to plant 90 trees between us.
This afternoon, year 5 were visited by Firefighters from Rastrick Station who delivered a very informative session all about what to do in the event of a fire. They also taught us how to be safe when travelling in a vehicle.
European country presentations
Year 5 have been hard at work over the past couple of weeks, creating presentations about different european countries. Next week they will be ready to present to the rest of year 5. Have a look next week to see the finished products!
World Book Day assembly.
WELL DONE class 11, you gave us all a very inspirational assembly, your enthusiasm for books was clear to see. Fabulous costumes too!
Back from the football tournament! Well done to both the boys and girls teams who showed fantastic behaviour and skills. We were so happy to welcome them back to class and hear the boys team won!
Mixed fortunes for our groups in the Dragon's Den yesterday- some of us came away with the cash we needed but others weren't as lucky, however they will get a second chance.
Class 12 had an interesting and enjoyable trip to Drax power station today. We found out how they produce electricity using biomass fuel. We had a look round the site and went inside a turbine hall.
What a fabulous day! Inspired by the sculptures & discussions, Year 5 pupils are now sculptors. Meals eaten, games played. Now time to set up the hall.
Following our visit from Warburtons, we continued our bread making today. We added our own concoctions to our dough before baking. Would you be tempted by a garlic and cheese snake, mixed fruit baguette or jam and banana cob ?
This afternoon year 5 spent time with their reading partners. We had all made our reading partner a board game, which we played with them. The reception children took the games home and hopefully they will enjoy playing them with their families.
This week we have introduced worry monsters to year 5. These are inspired by the book, The Huge Bag of Worries. The children can anonymously fill in a monster whenever they have a worry and put it in the bag in the classroom.
Well done to Class 11 for doing a fantastic assembly inspired by the book Wonder. They delivered the message 'choose kind' which reminded us all that it is better to be kind than to be right.
The children in the upper juniors have enjoyed a fantastic afternoon of inter-house football and bench ball. Well done to all, especially the greens who were our over all winners.
