But improving productivity and exports is very hard work. Making the economy attractive to FDI(not just portfolio investments) is very hard work. Easier to just lock the borders, blame 'saboteurs' and push the blame back to citizens.

Take a look at the numbers in this tweet and graph. The actual problem and answer lies in there. Again, export promotion not import substitution! .

@eldivyn One explanation for the FX crisis is that while imports increased 12% to $52.1B between 2014 and 2021, Nigerian exports have collapsed by 65%, declining from $102.8B to just $47.2B during the same period. Maybe the figures have improved since 2022, but that deficit was an issue.

Same old tired platitude not backed by actual facts. The current fx crisis is not because of over-reliance on imports, we're just not earning enough fx(from exports, remittance, etc) in addition to other issues. Demand mgmt does not fix that, it's been tried the past 8 years

We have dollarized our Economy so bad that our focus is on the Dollar rate vs making the Naira Strong…let the Naira finds its reall value and don’t peg it against the dollar…buy local, eat local, reduce ur long throat for foreign goods.

Probably had a reaction similar to Pharell's at the end of this preview on my first listen😂. Quickly rose to be my most listened track on the album and I'd been listening to "Jesus Walks" and "Through The Wire" for a while before I discovered this.
