[Splatoon 3]
What gets transferred from Splatoon 2 save data? 🧵

- You get 3 Gold Sheldon Licenses to unlock any 3 weapons.
- Anarchy Battles will be unlocked from the start.
- If you have a rank of B- or higher in any mode, you will start at B-.
- Your Power (MMR) for every mode is transferred and stored for later use. While I’m not able to tell exactly where these values are being used, they’re probably set as your base Power so you get matched with players of a similar skill level.
- If you reached the point where you can customize Agent 3 in the Octo Expansion, your chosen Agent 3 look will be transferred to Hero Mode.
- If you finished the Salmon Run tutorial in 2, you will get an abbreviated introduction. (Mr. Grizz will call you a “returning employee”.)
You will be able to choose whether you want to transfer your save data or not when the game first connects to the Internet.
In addition, it appears save data transfer was automatic for the demo. This explains why Splatoon 2 veterans got a B- rank after the Splatfest.
Note that these perks may change for the retail game, and are only representative of how the game behaved at the time of the Splatfest World Premiere (and because transferring was automatic, they might've tweaked some things just for the demo).
These are not final by any means.
Correction: Your highest power from any mode is taken and clamped to a range of 1600 and 2000. This value is then likely used as your base MMR, but I'm not sure how (considering only one number is used as your base MMR, but MMR is still tracked separately for every mode).

The ranking system has changed in Splatoon 3, and there is now one rank for all Anarchy Battle modes. You will be B- in everything.

Will we be able to choose whether our save data is transferred, or does it happen automatically? I’d like to start completely fresh. Will I have to delete my Splatoon 2 data to do that?

The game will attempt to read save data from all three regions, so it should work.
(If you have save data from multiple regions, though, it’ll prioritize only one. Not 100% sure how this works at the moment.)

It can import your save file from all three versions of the game, but it will only ask you if you want to transfer your save data from the first version it finds. The order of Splatoon 2 versions it checks for is controlled by an unknown factor (there are 6 possible orders).
