The Wren's Breath I had a vision of this photograph about 3 weeks ago and this morning after a lot of effort all the relevant bits came together and I finally managed to photograph a wren's breath Canon R5 and Canon 800mm L

The starlings definitely put some shapes out there this afternoon Best murmuration I’ve seen at Fairburn so far this season Just taking my longest lens with me was not so useful tonight but at least I had my phone!

Good but cold session this morning as the starlings left the roost :) Used to cameras one on 15-35mm and the other on 300mm Sparrowhawk just misses its breakfast at the end of the video! Didn't see another person!

'The Drop' When I go to the starling murmuration you hope that the birds roost close to you and the drop zone is huge If it does happen then to get a detailed shot is tricky, they drop after the light has gone. Shot at 300mm f/2.8 ISO 6400 to get 1/640...

3878 normal starlings 1 male marsh harrier 1 leucistic starling I nearly didn't go out this afternoon as the weather was pants but I did and I was the only person watching the local starling murmuration and what a show it was :) Can you spot the leucistic starling?

There can be few bird backs as attractive as a kingfishers :) Just a fun montage of a kingfisher taking off from this morning whilst I was waiting for the otter not to turn up! What did us photographers do before pre-capture!

A tornado of starlings :) Trying to capture that moment when the 1000's of starlings decide it's time to roost! It's a tricky shot as the area they are descending into is in shadow, it happens as the suns setting and they are fast! Taken yesterday afternoon

The bee grabber :) As far as I'm aware this is the only shot of thick headed fly (Conopidae) trying to grab a bee in flight in existence I took it (2021) whilst on a project photographing butterflies in flight Read up on thick headed flies they are amazing but grim!

Was one of those amazing mornings today with an interesting sky autumn colours for starling lift off. I’d seen the sparrowhawk sat on the fence and it dives straight in at the beginning of the video. #murmuration

Fairburn Ings this morning was beautiful :) Not so long ago this was a devoid of anything left over from the mining industry and now it's a haven for wildlife. But if I read social media half of the comments are about how bad re-wilding is. I don't understand...

Murmurations and sunsets 🙂 I probably should have been focusing on trees and the autumn colours are going fast but seem to be on bird mode at the moment… From this afternoon.

Bit of a dream shot for me this one as a marsh harrier approaches a starling murmuration at sunset! Traveled a few miles today to see a few different species of birds and saw this at the local site on the way home!

Work in progress with my ICM (Intentional Camera Movement) project of the starlings coming into roost! The main group came in really early tonight at 15:50 (Fairburn Ings) and I missed them. This was a smaller group I just managed to catch.
