A happy conclusion to the story of an injured hawk rescued by a Burnaby Frontline officer back in June. After being treated by @OWLRehab, the hawk was ready to soar again this fall. Media Relations Cpl. Laura Hirst was invited to help welcome the hawk back to Burnaby skies.

This is the second time in a month that Mainroad contracting has helped us out. Earlier they arranged for our property to be cleared of blackberries. Uncovering some fencing material under all the brush. A huge thanks for their ongoing support!

This week a barred owl was found in the middle of a highway, our friends at @MainroadLM were able to do a rolling road block. This gave our volunteers a chance to safely grab the bird! He has a good prognosis thanks to them

we lost an OWL legend. Blinkey came in 1984 This owl was a survivor, an adoptive parent, a caring mate,& an educator who has taught thousands of people about the importance of our wild raptors. He leaves an empty spot under his heat lamp and a spot in our hearts.

Young Bald Eagle was rescued this week. although he couldn’t fly, he was able to run & manoeuvre through the thick blackberry bushes to avoid capture. The bird was emaciated (underweight) & infested with feather lice. He is expected to make a full recovery and learn some skills

Young Bald Eagle that was caught at the top of a tree, heroically rescued by Tom McQueen of McQueen Forestry Services. Multiple fractures in his leg meant the bird couldn’t physically recover. We are extremely grateful to Tom and his crew, and the local people who called it in

Just a few of the dozens of young raptors we have been releasing back to the wild this week! This is a good time of year when the orphaned nestlings we received are old enough to return to the wild. #baldeagle #redtailedhawk #osprey #peregrinefalcon

Our Foster parent owls help with many different lessons, from ‘who am I’, flying strategies, hunting skills, as well as important communication lessons as you can see in this video. Here are two young birds on the top perch talking to their foster owl dad on the lower perch.

It was a beautiful day to release this 5 year old bald eagle. This eagle came into care after he got stuck in manure, after a few baths and some quick flight time he was ready to go! We are looking for donations of salmon and trout. Donations can be dropped off between 9am-4pm
