What's the deal with the Hershey movie that's been filming on Pgh's Soutshide, in Ligonier and Brownsville and a bucolic SWPA mansion?. The media's first look at what's happening on set: what it's about, whose working on it, how it's coming together:

These kinds of stories:. -Take time to uncover and explain. -They're about a big issue that could improve people's lives if it was better understood. I'll be at fewer press conferences but you can come to me when you have an issue that requires more time to look into. 5/5.

I produced a number of stories like the two below about problems with Kansas' plans and preparations for fighting wildfires. /4.

This story was a long exploration of the root causes of the lead crisis at PWSA (now Pittsburgh Water) and what some of the typical understandings of what happened missed. /3.

In these two education stories, people sent me documents that they thought the public should know about--a secret plan for a college consortium and security concerns. In both cases the stories produced led to changes: /2.

Yesterday I started my new job as an investigative reporter for @PennLive. The publication's based in Harrisburg but I will be based in Pittsburgh. What kind of stories will I be doing? Here're some examples and how you can help: /1.

People at WESA often work overtime because they believe in serving our city with fair and balanced reporting. Because it's a nonprofit, they don't waste resources on getting clicks. They focus on stories that matter. I hope you'll support WESA:. 7/7 .

As a parent I regularly find WESA's coverage of Pittsburgh Public Schools essential. And as far as I can tell, we've had by far the most scoops about how federal changes are impacting our local universities, scientists, educators, etc. /6 /

A couple of people told me recently that our coverage of an unusual event during the long-running Pittsburgh Post-Gazette strike was the most insightful reporting about the strike that they had read. /5.

There are too many examples to point out, so I'll just mention a couple highlights. Our coverage of East Palestine train derailment won a regional Murrow award and Best in Show for the Golden Quills. e.g. this story of the impact on the HS play. /4.

And yesterday WESA was one of the only outlets to cover the education protest. And because we were there we were able to capture a moment that could help shape whether these protests ultimately achieve their aims--where divergent views emerged. /3.

For example: this morning one of my last pieces for WESA published, a deep dive into the impacts a change in immigration policy is happening on a Mon Valley community. WESA first sent me there in September and I've been back every month since. /2.

Yesterday was my last day at @905wesa . Tomorrow I'll give details of my next gig (still journalism in Pittsburgh). Working at WESA has been a joy and, because this week is WESA's spring pledge drive, I want to remind you of what WESA does for PGH. /1 .
