You might have heard that “no one has died” as a result of disruptions to life-saving foreign assistance funding. This narrative is demonstrably false and incredibly dangerous. https://t.co/ASbe9N6rgc

“Cutting HIV programs through PEPFAR doesn’t just affect HIV. It makes people more vulnerable to other outbreaks like mpox or any other pathogen. [...] There’s a ripple effect across health systems. You weaken one area and the whole system is at risk.” https://t.co/Xqawnbyke9

But it’s not just PEPFAR. The abrupt USAID freeze stopped millions of people from accessing food, water, and medication. As you read this, thousands of tons of supplies are expiring in trucks without transportation contracts. This is real. It's happening right now. (4/5)

Take PEPFAR for example: a program that helped save over 26 million lives from HIV/AIDS. Dismantling USAID brought ground operations to a halt. Suddenly, access to antiretroviral drugs dried up. Clinics couldn’t keep their lights on. Infrastructure disappeared. (3/5)

Over the last few months, we have collected stories, facts, and data showing reckless cuts to lifesaving foreign assistance programs have, in fact, claimed lives – and will continue to do so unless we take action. (2/5)

“It was aid cuts,” her mom told me — without bitterness or any sense of entitlement, simply stating a fact that is obvious on the ground here. “People are dying every day and night.” https://t.co/TH8L0rzr7Z

In desperate villages in southwestern Uganda, not only are aid cuts killing children every day, but the death toll is accelerating.

Coffee and chocolate. Just two of the reasons we're pushing for the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) to be reauthorized before it expires on Sept 30☕️🍫 Last night on Capitol Hill, we showcased products enjoyed by Americans that benefit from AGOA👇

Millions of drugs used to treat neglected tropical diseases risk going to waste after U.S. aid cuts. In Africa alone, ~1.6 million medicines have already expired, 8 million more are set to by year-end & another 90 million by May 2026, according to @WHO. https://t.co/p1kLVUX39U
