And this sad story of a senior dog surrendered to the @OCAS_Orlando shelter... https://t.co/LGb58zT6AD

The video sheds light on the plight of senior dogs, who typically stay in shelters longer than younger dogs.

Recently our crew volunteered their time with @OCAS_Orlando, crafting snuffle mats for cats, assembling swag bags for dogs, and hanging out with Sprig—the shelter's longest resident. #LiveGenerously

Tockie (A523259) is an incredibly sweet, gentle and small owner surrender. Two years old, nervous and shy, she has been here for over 90 days. She's good with other dogs and loves people. Curious, strong, healthy and agile. And we think she makes the most adorable faces.

OCAS visited the amazing kids at one of the summer camps at Barnett Park. We taught them about looking out for other animals, when loose, hurt, or mistreated. And respect for our four legged friends. We were very impressed with their questions, their energy, and their hearts.

Cachirulo (A469187) is socialized, friendly, calm and well mannered. He understands his commands in both English and Spanish. We have used him to assess other dogs, and has shared his kennel space readily. At 8 years old, he's mature, gentle, and extremely affectionate.

@albyocwork Despite the massive interest for Luigi (A322698) he is still here at the shelter. His backstory is owners sister turned him in as a stray without knowing & when contacted he said he come but never showed 💔🐕

Concerned residents worked together w/ the officers to get the rottweiler on a leash & walked him to the patrol car. Officer Geter made sure to keep the pup calm & cool with the AC on & snuck in some hugs & kisses. @OCAS_Orlando reunited him w/ his owner.

One pic was Aaron a little over a month ago, the other is Aaron now. He's gained weight, confidence, shares his kennel with other dogs. He can still be timid around some people, but once he warms up he forgets he's three years old and fifty pounds and will jump in your lap.

We are happy to announce that starting this weekend, the shelter will be changing its Sunday hours. For the first time in ten years, our schedule is changing. This Sunday we will be open from 10am to 6pm. Our Wednesdays will be shortened from a full day to 2pm to 6pm.

Our dogs had a chance to strut their stuff with professional models and a photographer came to visit the shelter. Max, Leo and Ducky definitely channeled their inner supermodel.

Tommy is 10 years old, a senior, and his body shows the scorns and scars of a life lived hard. He is friendly, affectionate, gentle, and gets along patiently with other dogs. His eyes are soulful, and he moves around with the calm confidence of a survivor.

Tyger (A505741) is a massive ball of energy. He is an incredibly happy dog, ready to run, play, climb, tug of war. At two years old and 42lbs, he’s not a big dog. He will need an adopter who will take him out for runs, chase him around the yard, and toss a ball to him for hours.

Ross is about 4 years old, calm, friendly, but absolutely terrified to be here. Our clinic team is caring for a possible birth abnormality coupled with an old break that did not heal correctly on his front leg. Ross limps, but he is able to move around quite well.
