New users will start with better default settings! Our crash resistant Hybrid MP4 video container (Hybrid MOV on macOS) is now the default recording format. We also decided it's probably safe to bump up the default streaming bitrate to 6000 after being set to 2500 since 2015.

NVIDIA Broadcast integration in OBS has received several updates! RTX Background Removal now has support for chair detection and removal, a new Voice Activity Detection option was added for audio devices, and several optimizations have been made.

As part of these updates to crash handling, we've removed the ability to disable the clean shutdown check. This already provided us a LOT of info about crashes we weren't aware of and situations where it was showing up incorrectly that we will be fixing in the future.

Our crash handler has been reworked on Windows and macOS, including an addition to the startup prompt to (optionally) upload crash reports to us so we can fix them! We can only fix crashes we know about, so we hope this makes it easier for people to send them to us!

Our work on the long requested Plugin Manager is finally underway! The initial version included in 32.0 lets you enable and disable plugins in OBS Studio without having to dig into your filesystem. Additional functionality coming in future updates👀

We are aware that OBS Studio 31.0 Game Capture does not work with games protected by Vanguard. This is due to the new digital signature we're using being incompatible with certain Windows security features it uses. We're working with Riot and Microsoft on potential solutions.
