"TVs have closed captions" is not an excuse for not showing ASL performers on-screen. Hearing people aren't just reading the the National Anthem, or even all having a sing-a-long; the focus is on a famous singer doing their rendition, and the signed performances are the same.

Took the boys to get a flu shot. Nurse asked me if they could have a p-o-p, spelling it to avoid meltdown. Except hearing CODA can spell. Then fingerspelled to his brother. Both began chanting for lolipops. In conclusion, ASL is magic for early literacy. Use at your own risk! 😅

The framing of this is so gross. This has nothing to do with being deaf, though it sounds like the parent has a mental health issue (like PPD) going on if they are neglecting their child. I hope the baby gets an attentive caregiver and that parent gets help.
