My dad found this yesterday. June 1969. 500kg bullock £88. He bought a new David brown 880 the same month for £970. 11 cattle paid for the new tractor. Take a few more than 11 cattle to buy a new tractor in 2020
Scanning today. Always an anxious time but fear not an excellent result!!
Contract heifers 98.5%
Own heifers 100%
Cows 98.5%.

Rather surprised with all the weather extremes all summer.
An eventual day. Out of silage, start of zero grazed grass and abus tour of students from Georgia. Just a normal Friday on the 96th day of January.

Temporarily extending feed barrier space. Using old H irons that must be 150 years old and 30 year old gates from a beef slatted unit. Just wait for the weather now to pour the floor
Left cows and calves out this morning. Missing one this evening. Nature at its best. He was nestled in a nice corner with a bank on both sides and the strainer as a wind break. He would be cosy for the night
Technology is great. Sipping away on a few beers in france and the ladies getting milked and no relief milker to pay when I’m home. Great system. Peter and Robbie
@DairyFts
keeping an eye on proceedings in my absence as well
@RoboticGrazing
Getting close. Loft office floor in, gable end almost done and started framing for windows and walls in loft. 4 weeks to first heifer to calf
@fts
are you ready??
Being off school has its advantages. Wonder how long before he gets bored!! Hardly get all the silage ground outta him before the call of PS4 beckons??🙄😁
Work shop these days. But of maintenance before it gets busy again. New floor, brake adjustments and a general go through. 17 years old and working daily. Stitch in time keeps them working
Great to get the old stuff out for a run. The roller and tractor!! Close to 100years old between the two of them combined. Cows were milked with a pipeline back then. Now robotically milked.

Fair play to the lads
@BanagherPrecast
for the excellent job on manufacture of 8’10” slats to retrofit an old shed which had a suspended passage up to now. Awkward and a bit of fiddling. Lads had the patience of a saint. Thanks again. Highly recommend 👍🏻👍🏻
Bit of light engineering today taking out a few poles in a shed and making it portal.

couldn’t be done without the mag drill😉
Greats days work

today. Robot shed roof finished, old skylights replaced, and home made barrier fitted. Getting close to being finished now thank god
I hate spannering. Pin hole in a brake pipe. Such an effort to get into replace it. Replaced with high pressure hydraulic line instead. Much easier to get back into place
All coming together nicely. Cubicle mats in, floors going in for tank room and stores and final feed barrier nearly made. All ready for robot delivery from
@DairyFts
As my first season as a robotic farmer comes to a close, well impressed on how well this machine wash’s cows. As I prepare to dry off cows the wipes are spotless, as well as being able to treat the cow in the pit is just a game changer.

@FarmGea
Interesting afternoon, bus full of agri students from Texas. Very similar problems and price over there. Great interest in all things robotic and grass fed

This submersible pump went in the well in 1987. 2 farm yards, 3 dwelling houses and god knows how many kms of water pipe. Gave up the ghost today. Not a bad investment. Easter Sunday was busy. Thanks to Henry Maher of kilkenny water pumps got us up and running again.
@bryanjdaniels
am I a bad farmer now because I’m topping. Well technically the 14 year is topping😀. First day of summer holidays and he’s mad for machines cows farming. Living his best life!!

GEA DAIRYROBOT R9500 OPEN DAY
In association with FTS Dairy Services a GEA Open Day will be held on Wednesday 6th of September on the farm of Noel Lynch, Callan, Co Kilkenny, E41 Y152
Here’s to a different 2019. As we scale back and sell our suckler herd due to ever decreasing margins. Moving to Heifer rearing with a great local dairy farmer. Onwards and upwards but sad to have to make this decision.
