5/ In Nockchain’s zk-PoW, each header+nonce defines one computation transcript. This single-transcript guarantee prevents reusing partial proving work across nonce trials, keeping mining fair and resistant to amortization. See link & follow @nockchain!.

4/ Necessary work: the zk-SNARK attests that the block’s transactions are consistent with prior state. Blocks become proofs of valid state transitions. This makes verification cheap and enables light clients that don't have to replay history.

3/ Security on Nockchain comes from proofpower: the aggregate proving throughput of miners. Honest-majority-of-proofpower gives Bitcoin-like safety. Difficulty targets ~10 min blocks with ~2-week retargets; longest chain by height remains the rule.

2/ How the Nockchain puzzle works: header + nonce seed a cryptographic sponge, squeezed to populate a list with 64 elements. A fixed program runs on the Nock ZKVM over the Goldilocks field, yielding a witness. Miners prove it, hash the proof, and check against the target.

1/ On Nockchain, instead of computing hashes (Bitcoin’s PoW), miners generate zk-SNARKs. Each block carries a proof. That proof is then hashed and compared to the target, Bitcoin-style. Same rules but richer verification. A thread on our Zero-Knowledge Proof-of-Work. 👇

For 1 year, we built a real audience writing about the history of Proof of Work. When others were paying for followers, we organically collected only the most discerning. Now the crypto twitter underground has found us organically, do you have any idea what happens next?.

Nockchain launched on May 21, 2025 with similar principles as Bitcoin: open source competition, zero pre-mine, hard-capped supply, and of course PoW. The main difference is that Nockchain integrates key technical lessons learned after Bitcoin (e.g. ZK, programmability, etc.).
