Riverside's Kaylie Avvisato used to take daily trips to softball fields with her dad, crafting her game with her mentor.
After he died in November, she is now inspired by his memory as she emerges as one of the nation's premier talents.

Check out our preseason ranks here! ⬇️
Despite only playing for
@TerrapinHoops
for one season, Fatts Russell made an indelible mark on the team with his gritty play.
Thursday’s Big Ten tournament game was a perfect encapsulation of his time as a Terp.

Took a look at each Ohio State football game this season, analyzing each opposing quarterback's passer rating against the No. 2 Buckeyes.
Turns out, Maryland quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa had a pretty good game on Saturday.

I’m beyond excited to announce that I will be joining

as its managing editor this fall! I can’t wait to get to work with a great group of talented sports journalists in what should be an exciting 2021 season. 🐢
“They came out tonight,” Maryland football running back Roman Hemby said.
Mike Locksley pleaded for fans to “Fill the Shell” Saturday against SMU. It wasn’t a sellout crowd, but seeing fans stay all four quarters was a “step forward” in Locksley’s eyes.
Dante Trader Jr. is poised for a breakout year for Maryland football, and it’s been his drive that has caught teammates’ eyes.
“He’s always working, always doing extra,” Jakorian Bennett said of

“He’s gonna shock a lot of people this year.”

For my final

story,
@ByVarunShankar
and I did a data analysis of Maryland football’s 2022 season, with a look ahead to next year for coach Mike Locksley’s Terps.
Give it a read here! ⬇️
Maryland men's basketball has its first commit under Kevin Willard.
Noah Batchelor — a Frederick, Maryland native — has committed to the Terps. The three-star forward decommitted from Memphis on Feb. 6.
Last week, I told the
@DBKSports
desk that if Maryland wrestling snapped its 63-match conference losing streak against Purdue I would jump in the McKeldin Mall fountain.
Well...
Still covering Maryland Athletics, just in a different role than usual today.
So excited to be at the Xfinity Center for

Updates and a story to come!
This season will mark the 20-year anniversary of Maryland football's 30-3 win over Tennessee in the 2002 Peach Bowl.
I spoke to Ralph Friedgen, Mike Locksley and players on the team, who reflected on the program’s highest peak in the 21st century.
It’s Maryland Football Media Day!
I’m here on the field as the team prepares for its team picture. Media will hear from Coach Locksley and the coaching staff as well as offensive and defensive players.
Follow along for updates!
It was a full-circle moment for Jeshaun Jones in what could be his final game in Maryland uniform against Rutgers. Over four years after torching Texas, the wideout set multiple career-highs for the Terps.
Story on Jones' emotional Senior Day:
Locksley said that he has a rule of thumb with DMV players in recruiting process.
If DMV recruits don’t give the program “the time of day” in the high school recruiting process, he’s less likely to have them back in the transfer portal if things don’t work out.
Mr Eising is both a wonderful educator and person who has worked tirelessly to provide the best possible outcomes for his students. He makes the Blake community proud, and we need his compassion and spirit at the forefront of our PERFORMING ARTS high school! Let him stay!
Maryland volleyball just secured its biggest win in program history, upsetting No. 2 Wisconsin in a five set thriller, 3-2.
Words on the Terps’ incredible victory:
Not a bad way to spend my first trip to New York!
Maryland men’s basketball is just about set to take on No. 20 Florida here at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

“I want to sort of make my mark and make it known that I believe in this.”
Before every match this season, Maryland volleyball’s Rainelle Jones has chosen to kneel during the national anthem to advocate for racial justice.

HT: Maryland 24, Northwestern 29.
Each team has scored about half their points on free throws after 23 fouls were called in the first half.
Maryland is shooting 19.2% from the field and 7.1% from three and is only down five.
Young: 11 pts, 9-for-10 on FT
Harris-Smith: 7 pts
I'm not the best at reading mouths, but I believe Mike Locksley just said "How is that not pass interference?" to a referee after Maryland was forced to take a field goal.
It’s 6 p.m. in College Park, which marks the unofficial return of Maryland volleyball for the Fall 2021 season.
The Terps’ Red-White scrimmage is just about ready to get underway, and I’ll have occasional updates for
@DBKSports

Enzo was one of the first people I met at a Left Bench show. I remember feeling awestruck of his outstanding fashion sense and asking him where he got his colorful sneakers.
Enzo touched many lives at Merrill. His bright smile and wonderful reporting will be sorely missed. ❤️
The Left Bench, along with the entire
@merrillcollege
community, mourns the tragic loss of our beloved reporter, Enzo Alvarenga.
Enzo was a bright and cherished part of our organization, and he will be deeply missed.
Some Maryland football records broken on that first drive:
-Taulia Tagovailoa eclipsed 6,000 passing yards, the fastest to do so in program history
-Antwain Littleton's rushing touchdown was the sixth consecutive game he's scored, breaking Lance Ball's record from 05-06
In just about 15 minutes, Maryland volleyball will officially open its Fall 2021 season with a home bout against the Virginia Cavaliers.

Last year,

Cool moment from tonight’s volleyball postgame presser:
Outside hitter Sam Csire, who is from Ohio, said she had 50-60 people in attendance with customized shirts for her at the Covelli Center tonight.
“I can’t even describe how it made me feel… it was awesome,” Csire said.
A huge turn of events to end the half.
Corey Dyches hauls a defender into the endzone with him for a 68-yard touchdown. We're tied in College Park.

Maryland football receiver Rakim Jarrett will change his number from 5 to 1 for the 2022 season, the team announced.
The change comes after wide receiver Marcus Fleming, who wore 1 last season, entered the transfer portal.
After four years at App State, Lexi Kohut was planning on closing the door on her collegiate volleyball career.
However, a summer internship with the Gossett Student Athlete Center in College Park gave her another chance at her dream.
