NEW: I spoke to former Celtic Jared Sullinger, now a star in China. He's confident the Celtics are raising Banner

this year.
“But I think that every year!” he said, laughing. “I told you — I bleed green."

Payton Pritchard on why he wears Sabrina Ionescu’s shoes:
“Me and Sabrina are in the same class, and we went to Oregon together as freshmen. Her shoes are probably the most comfortable out right now. It’s light. I like it.”
Kristaps Porzingis and Jaylen Brown carpool home since they live in the same building.
This story of KP’s 1986 Mercedes breaking down at 5am with JB in it is too good lol
“I blame myself,” Brown said of trusting Porzingis’s car.

Jayson Tatum announced a $1 million partnership to promote financial literacy for low-income families, and cites growing up in a single-family home as the formative experience that inspired him.
“My mom was 19 when she had me, living check to check.”
Jayson Tatum on sports betting in the NBA:
“Fans yell shit all the time, shoot one more three, get one more rebound, get 25 before the half is over… I guess I do feel bad when I don't hit people's parlays. I dont want to them lose money.”
What sucks most is that Miles Bridges told us straight up he hoped his on-court play would distract us from the horrific domestic violence.
It’s the media’s responsibility to make sure that doesn’t happen, but it’s clear that won’t be the case.
"I feel like this could be a turn around game for us."
Miles Bridges talks with
@ashahahmadi
about the game winning shot and the

huge overtime win over the Celtics.

Joe Mazzulla on what he was thinking during the play Caleb Martin fouled Jayson Tatum:
“I was waiting to see what he [Tatum] was going to do. I was kind of excited about the whole situation. I enjoyed watching it.”
Jayson Tatum was fouled HARD and immediately jumped up and walked away — seemingly knowing his teammates would have his back.
Jaylen Brown had his back, and Tatum immediately went over to high-five him.
Jaylen Brown said a couple of weeks ago that Luke Kornet is always making the guys laugh, even when they don't want to. This was such a great moment in the midst of a very intense basketball game.
Erik Spoelstra on the Celtics after last night's game:
"They've been the best team in basketball all season long."
"I will not watch one minute of their games, but they'll probably do this to several teams from here on out."
For the record I usually like Kenny and don’t think he intended harm. But NBA threes are Sabrina’s literal range and she talked about that ahead of the competition.
So, yeah, the call could have been really special in that moment and instead we got this. That’s all.
"If I gotta hear one more praise about Boston on national tv when we win a game, I'm tired of hearing that, man." 🍿

Pick your favorite Stan Van Gundy line from his 5 min speech blaming Tatum for his ankle sprain.
Mine's: "You don't want this? Then don't shoot the ball."
Payton Pritchard is set to play in all 82 games this year, something he's very proud of:
"Last year, they were times I didn’t play at all - how frustrating that is, and how much that hurt at times. It just fueled me to keep working."
Payton Pritchard was asked by
@GwashburnGlobe
if his last few games give him momentum:
“Nah, I already knew I could do this, but when you have a team with as much talent as we have, you have to do other things to help winning… ultimately, I’m here to win a championship.”
Jaylen Brown is very proud to show off his high school to Kristaps Porzingis
Brown, who went to school in Marietta, Georgia, highlights how much he’s given back to to school, too.

Payton Pritchard doesn’t like the characterization of fourth quarter blowout minutes as ‘garbage time.’
“I don’t ever look it at like garbage time. It’s an opportunity for me to hoop… everybody is an NBA guy, at the end of the day. This is top level basketball here.”
After his career night, Derrick White was asked what advice he has for young hoopers:
“Believe in yourself, never stop working, and when you’re on this court, you have to be the hardest working player on the court.”
Sneak peak of Jaylen Brown showing Kristaps Porzingis around Atlanta, including taking him to his favorite deli
Ft Brown and Porzingis fake fighting and Jaylen fully not getting recognized by the Deli workers lol

Jayson Tatum was fouled HARD and immediately jumped up and walked away — seemingly knowing his teammates would have his back.
Jaylen Brown had his back, and Tatum immediately went over to high-five him.
Jrue Holiday was blown away by the TD Garden crowd at his first playoff game as a Celtic:
“It was awesome. It was loud. The crowd was insane from when we were warming up.. the support that the Boston fans give us, and how it is here, is like no one else.”
Jaylen Brown just called over these two little boys for an autograph and photo. He was heading back toward the locker room when he noticed the kids and motioned them both over.
They didn’t initially have a pen, but it all worked out in the end.
Payton Pritchard said the team told Jaylen Brown to shoot 20-30 three-pointers if he was open:
“I think today they were just trying to mess with us probably mentally. Thats the growth we’ve made, the maturity — we’re not going to let that affect us no more.”

Jayson Tatum with some illuminating words on the concept of 'toughness':
"It's easy to say teams can out-tough us. I never understood what's the definition of tough? Having louder guys on your team? That shit don't make you tough. Everybody has their own definition."
Jayson Tatum went to Doc Rivers during the All Star game and said “Give Jaylen my minutes, I want to see him win MVP.”
Brown was the only bench player to play more than 19 mins. He finished w/ 36 points in 22 mins — no MVP, but a really nice gesture by his teammate anyways.
NEW: I spoke with the 20-year-old filmmaker behind the Celtics videos that highlight the team's elite on-court play:
“It’s my job, but it feels like my duty to do the best I can to bring those stories to life.”

Jaylen Brown was asked what his first reaction was when he found out last night the Celtics were playing Miami.
“I knew it was going to be Miami. I knew it from a few weeks back.”
I asked Xavier Tillman about what he’s learned so far about the people of Boston:
“I learned how much they love the Celtics…. it doesn’t matter the demographic — if you’re in Boston, if you’re in Massachusetts, everyone loves the Celtics, and I love that.”
We got a competitive game of 1v1 with Jordan Walsh, Jaden Springer, Neemias Queta and Payton Pritchard.
Springer has had some pretty jaw-dropping defensive stops.
Jayson Tatum on Jrue Holiday’s defense on Tyler Herro:
“Jrue does all the things that may not always show up on the stat sheet. Every single night, his presence, his ability to screen, always wants to guard the best player, take tendencies away.”
“Jrue’s a champion.”
Marcus Smart chants continue to echo in the halls of TD Garden
I genuinely don’t think there is a player so beloved by his former franchise in this league
Jaylen Brown on Pritchard:
“Some guys just have a certain mentality that they carry themselves with. Payton is someone you don’t worry about, even in the lowest of times, he’s a hard worker and his mindset is phenomenal, relentless — never give up, warrior-like mentality.”
A lot of tears in this building as Mike Gorman closes his halftime farewell with the perfect final line.
“To the team, I just want to say: go win this thing.”
Jalen Brunson praised Jaylen Brown for his willingness to participate in the dunk contest:
"That takes a lot of nuts to go out there and do that... I respect him... he don't care what y'll think, he's comfortable with what he does."

Joe Mazzulla does not think Jayson Tatum is slumping: “Had 26, 8 and 5… when Maxey did that, you said we couldn’t stop him.”
“People are so used to seeing him dominate in a different way, but we have a different team this year with different expectations.”

Jaylen Brown doesn’t have thoughts on the crowd booing Kyrie tonight, but suggests maybe the fans should boo all opposing stars:
“When Jokic and all these other players come in here, boo them too.”
Look at this reaction by Jrue Holiday immediately after Jaylen brown hit three consecutive three-points immediately after this timeout. Holiday spent that timeout in Brown’s ear.
This is not a typical G-League team.
Maine Celtics coach Blaine Mueller acknowledged the harsh reality postgame - when this season ends, they will all go in different directions.
"These guys love each other, if that's not evident, if you can't see it, you're not watching."
Fascinating insight from Joe Mazzulla into his mindset on
@PardonMyTake
. Says he never uses revolving doors, studies the exits of every room he’s in, and uses watching cartoons with his kids as a chance to teach them lessons:
“How can I win every situation or environment?”
Jaylen Brown organized a weekend getaway for players to spend time together and go look at art in Miami.
On his YouTube channel,
@Obrissy
shared some clips of himself, Porzingis, Banton, and Svi on the trip.
“JB thought it was a good idea to clear our heads,” Brissett wrote.
Jaylen Brown said Kristaps Porzingis has been smiling, but that he knows it hurts him not to be with the team:
"I just told him, 'we're going to hold it down. Just get your recovery in, get back healthy, and we're not going to miss a beat when you come back."

Also this is maybe not the best way to make your point that something isn’t misogynist (and not even going to get into how often messages like this come when boys disagree with my opinions)
Jaylen Brown: "It is an honor to play for an organization that has made a long-term commitment to our community."
Says the Raise the Age bill makes all the sense in the world: "All of us in this room, including myself, were one decision away from being in a different situation."
Jaylen Brown is in the Massachusetts State House today advocating in favor of a "Raise the Age" bill that will keep 18- to 20-year-olds in the juvenile system, rather than the more-harsh adult criminal system.

Marcus Smart hitting a three with a completely dislocated finger is just so classic.
(He led the Grizzlies — who don’t have Ja or Jaren tonight — with 23 points in 21 minutes)
Payton Pritchard on the Caleb Martin foul:
“I think we liked that. I think it was a joy to see that and what it’s going to be like moving forward. We’re ready for that.”
Kristaps Porzingis with some very high praise for Jayson Tatum’s first career triple-double:
“That was a beautiful game from him. Getting those assists, especially early on — he wasn’t forcing anything at all, getting everyone involved. Huge credit to him.”
Desmond Bane on Marcus Smart after tonight's Grizzlies win:
"That's a winner right here. Ain't no reason why we started winning once he came back in the lineup."
Isaiah Thomas on the Celtics:
“That Boston love is real. No matter what happened in the past, all those guys communicate with me still. I’m always locked in on Celtics games. That was a big part of my life… It’s always going to be love for everybody in that organization.”

Jayson Tatum on his relationship with Bradley Beal:
“Two kids from Saint Louis. Not a lot of people make it out of there. For him to come out first, give me the blueprint, always come back AND be there for me, work out with me, show me the ropes.. that’s like my big brother.”
Jrue Holiday spoke extensively about how kind of a person Jayson Tatum is:
"You can see just how good of a person he is. That doesn't always matter in winning, but to me, it matters how you treat people... he literally doesn't take this for granted... it's genuine."
Kristaps Porzingis said it was a good loss:
“It’s healthy for us. We do have the feeling we’re pretty much going to win every game, we’re invincible… a little bit of that feeling is always there, it may be healthy, but it’s also healthy to get a loss here and there.”

Payton Pritchard on Joe Mazzulla:
“He definitely expects you to play hard. Sometimes coaches in the NBA get in the mode of ‘the season is long’ and stuff. He doesn’t really care, back-to-back or anything. He’s trying to win every game.”

Marcus Smart and Jrue Holiday share a moment before tonight’s game. The two have spoken quite a bit about their close relationship and support of each others philanthropic work.
Holiday has mentioned they would have loved the chance to play together.
