Rehabilitation is not a luxury, .Rehabilitation is an investment for both the individuals and community,.Rehabilitation is not an optional service,rather .Rehabilitation is an essential health service. Timely, high quality & affordable rehabilitation should be available to all.

"Rehabilitation services play a pivotal role in ensuring the functionality of Children with Disabilities, promoting their independence and full participation in daily activities". (Figueiras et al. 2012; Li & Chen 2017; Scherzer et al. 2012).

"Early rehabilitation interventions can significantly mitigate the effects of disabilities in children as they grow older. " . Vampere, H., Dassah, E., Tawiah, R. & Quarm, M.A., 2024, ‘Access to rehabilitation services for families of children with disabilities in Ghana’.

According to WHO, "Currently, the need for rehabilitation is largely unmet. In some low- and middle-income countries, more than 50% of people do not receive the rehabilitation services they require." .Data does differ in various context.

Globally, an estimated 2.4 billion people are currently living with a health condition that may benefit from rehabilitation. (Physiotherapy, Occupational therapy, speech therapy. many more).

Siblings Workshop at Njeri Maria Foundation in partnership with special education professionals. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉. Siblings of children with disabilities are often overlooked in the Hussle of raising the other child. Siblings need consideration, attention and their space to thrive.

Kenya, this is why we need to make community based interventions. Persons with disabilities should be living at home with their families in their communities. Resource them there, support them there.

I still believe in opportunities for interactions as key in facilitating disability inclusion and inclusion in general. #InclusionEveryday.

It was so insightful to hear the stories of how many times people with hearing impairment end up on the wrong side because of COMMUNICATION. One of the fundamental rights is access to professional, qualified sign language interpreters at all times to inform of the proceedings.

Article 49 of the constitution of Kenya: Rights of Arrested persons in particular persons with hearing impairment (deaf) . I joined Article 48 Initiative facilitating a session on Access to justice for Persons with disabilities. Our judicial systems need to be inclusive for all.
